New Groomer UGH... so for 2 years I've sung the praises of my groomer. well she no longer works at the store we go to cause she got bit. They just replaced the groomer and we had our first appointment today. I'm a little sad, she misunderstood my comment on liking his hair long and that I want to keep it long, and interpreted that as do a long puppy cut. :( It doesn't look horrible but we've spent 2 years growing it out in a show like coat, he's neutered so it's not like he has to have a show coat, but I really like the show coat. Sad part was I waited the whole time in the store and never peaked in to see what she was doing. So it's freezing here, Harley hates clothes, any tips on how to get him to like a sweater? I have to go buy one tomorrow cause he only has his big winter coat, and doesn't have a sweater. I stressed some other really particular things, which she did right I guess I just didn't stress the fact that I wanted a show cut. She promised to call the old groomer and ask her how she does it so that when I come back she can maintain it and help it grow out. I'm just sad cause I love his hair. it'll grow back, but it'll take another year or so to reach the length it was at originally. plus he just ran away from me and I noticed she cut his tail hair :( I've worked really hard to not cut his tail for 2 years cause it's docked and I want him to have a nice long tail, it's so cute when he wags. Ugh I wanna cry. |
It may take awhile but its still just hair and will grow back. Just be glad she didn't nick him or hurt him in any way. |

Here is the result... at least I was specific enough about the face that she didn't touch that. |
He's a cutie. You could get a hoodie made out of fleece. They are nice and warm.:) |

do you guys leave sweaters on at night? how does that work or do you just put lots of blankets at night? I don't want him to catch a cold or anything. I know these guys don't grow under coats or anything, but she took a good 2 inches of hair off of him, so he's bound to be colder. |
My two are cut short but it doesn't get too cold here (now that I've said that, it will probably be a record breaking cold winter). Unless it's really cold, I don't put pajamas on them. They snuggle up in the covers. They sleep with me and we have a lot of blankets, even in the summer. Mine used to not move at all when I would put a sweater or any clothes on them. |

Maxie (2 yrs; 6#) wears sweaters most of the time. I keep him cut short. He was in show coat when I got him. He couldn't walk without tripping on his hair. We nicknamed him 'step and a half' because he could only take one or two steps before he tripped on his hair. He doesn't wear sweaters at night 'cause he dives under the covers and sleeps up close. The short cuts are cute and practical. |
I have my girls hair cut short in the fall because they wear coats and sweaters 24/7 when it is below 70 and there hair gets so matted otherwise. They seem to like short and sassy hair. Less time grooming but a bow for a top knot and they are done. |

I keep my house warm, so Kacee doesn't need anything on. Even with short hair, she'll crawl in and out of the covers.:) |

Plus due to my limited financial budget, I may not be able to follow her elsewhere, Bark and Fitz, knows I'm a regular customer and they agreed to price Harley's grooming as a "puppy groom" $30 seeing he is so small. When my groomer took her leave I called all the other groomers in town and the lowest price was $65.00 before tip and tax:eek:. which IMO is NUTTS. I've considered asking her if she'd do him for some cash, cause he is well behaved, but if she's shook up from the whole thing I'd hate to bug her. This new woman is really nice and all, I'm willing to give her a shot; I've calmed down in the last few hours, so I'm not as upset about it, more just disappointed that I have to go buy sweaters, I love shopping for Harley, but he hates clothes... lol so I guess I'll have to bribe him to wear it. Oh how tight should a sweater fit him? I have a t-shirt on him that mom gave him for Christmas, but it's big enough that he can jump his legs out through the neck. I figured I'd just stick it on him while I was around in the room for the evening and give him an extra fleece in his crate when I take the shirt off and put him to bed. |
Got a cute little sweater for $10 today :) it was marked down :D I can't figure out if he's cozy and sleeping in it, or pissed off an ignoring me because of it. :P |
