Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | There Was A Whole Lot Of Brushin' Goin' On... Hey guys! Well day 2 has went pretty good! Katie Scarlett played very well today and took a few naps. She ate and drank better today too. She did have 2 wee wee accidents while playing in the man cave, which is carpeted, but they were so small. I caught her and startled her into stopping. I immediately took her to her pad and she finished her business. I did clean up the stains with Nature's Miracle. Other than that every other wee wee and the 2 poops she had today were in the right spot! Yay! So not too bad in the potty area. After a lot of play, we laid down near Daddy's lap to do our nightly grooming session. She didn't care for the brushing as much tonite as she did last night. She just laid there and took it last night, but tonite she protested a bit. Finally I think she just relented and allowed me to finish. Then we brushed her teethies for the very first time. We were so busy last night, I forgot, but I plan on making it a nightly routine. She did awesome with the toothbrush! I think she enjoyed it more than I enjoyed praising her while she brushed! She just now got some water and is laying next to Daddy resting. She has been such a good puppy today! I know you guys said I'd be addicted, but I never imagined how much! LOL! I am so loving Yorkie motherhood!!! As for the brushing, any tips on the brushing sessions? Thanks for listening to me today guys! I just felt the need to share I guess since all of you shared so much with me and everyone at YT since I've been here.

| So cute! Sounds like you are helping your little baby adjust very well. Max tolerates the brushing, but Abby fights me every time. My other yorkies have all learned to like being brushed - usually because they figured out there would be a little treat after. Sounds like you are doing everything right. In my experience, getting them started early is the best way to get them used to the brushing. Thanks for sharing |

| Accidents are to be expected..... my vet told me their bladders are not fully formed until they are 16-weeks old. As for brushing... Riley just wanted to bite and play with the brush, at first.... I would let him do it for a little bit and then I would go really slow.... so that it would feel real good....and he now doesn't bite or anything.... He Loves it!!!! |

| When Max was a pup, I played with him until he was ready for a nap and then I held him on my lap to comb him. Using a lot of massage and soft, sweet talk helped relax him. He would pretend that he was asleep while I turned him every which way. When he matured a little, I was able to start working with him on the counter, fully awake. I tied grooming to walks, his favorite activity. If he wanted to go outside, he had to have his hair combed.

| With Rosie and Mikki, I brush them twice a day. Once in the morning and once in the evening. I do it about the same time. So, it is pretty much part of their routine. Honestly, they are so used to it that I don't have any trouble at all. I think if you keep doing it she will get used to it. And praise always helps! She is a cutie pie!
