Blue Born Girl looks like a chocolate yorkie 2 Attachment(s) I have a blue born yorkie girl that looks like a chocolate yorkie. Brown nose but she has a blue tint to her and her eyes are blue. She has an awesome quote and comes form a chocolate carrier. Her brother is the same color. Pic is at 6weeks. Can anyone give me some input on her. |
I don't think you understand about blue born, many people are confused by the term blue since Yorkies are known for their “blue” coat. A blue born is something different, their hair has a greyish color and sometimes, their hair never really grows. Some are hairless and have skin problems, and some die before the age of three. They should never be bred, but people keep breeding them, and unsuspecting buyers don’t understand the health risks involved. Yorkie puppies all have blue eyes, especially when photographed. Your dog probably is a chocolate and there are no known health problems for the chocolate as there are for the blue born. Goldenray Genetics Chocolate Yorkies Red Golden or Yorkie Blue Borns CDA. I personally don't believe people should breed for them, just because there are too many pets available, and the only breeding being done should be to preserve the breed. Your little girl while adorable, doesn't look purebred to me because the hair on the leg resembles fur not hair as seen in yorkies. Sometimes people mix another breed into the dog, in order to get unique colors. |
IDK But she's cute! |
She is a pure bred akc that comes from a line that has been bred for 20 years. Her coat is awesome. I have been told that she is blue and was wanting some feedback. She does not look like anything is wrong with her hair. Chocolate yorkies are known for their green eyes and hers are blue. |
She doesnt look blue to me and you dont want her to be blue born they have health problems. |
No I do Not want her to be blue born. I am scared that she might have health problems and was wondering if anyone could give some input on the pic. |
She doesnt look blue born to me at all. They usually have blue/gray type of coat. |

As far as an awesome coat...coats change so, what you see at 6 weeks will be different as an adult. Please tell us that you are not purchasing a 6 week old puppy...Yorkie puppies need to be with their mothers & littermates for a minimum of 10-12 weeks.;) |
I bred her and am going to sell her for a pet. I think she was full of it. Now she has a bother that is the same color but his hair is really short and thats why she thinks they are both blue born but IDK she looked solid brown as a newborn |

I reread my post and I think it sounds harsh... what about this puppy makes you think she is breed quality... |
There is one way to know for sure if your girl is blue, that would be to do a simple cheek swab DNA test to test for the recessive D gene. I use a company called Animal Genetics Canine Testing Service Cost Test costs 40.00. If she is blue, that means both parents carry one copy of the recessive D gene, so use caution when breeding dogs from these lines. |
Just because a dog is AKC does not always mean that it is totally pure. I am not trying to start anything. But, I know a person, unethical person to say the least, that has swapped papers on dogs, bred two different breeds and said that they are pure and here are the "Papers" to prove it. Somewhere back in the line could have been, not saying it is so, but, could have been an unethical person as I have known. She NO longer is in the "puppy business"... You puppy is cute, but, not blue to me, She looks chocolate. |

Blue Born 4 Attachment(s) I have a 13 week old female yorkie I just bought from a breeder that I bought my other two boys from. She told me that she had another silver color puppy born like my Coco 10 years ago and as she got older she only had hair on her face and feet. Coco has more hair on her face and feet nd very thin hair on her body. She has a chocolate colored noise nd in some light looks chocolate nd in other lights looks silver. I will not breed her as I have fixed all my other dogs as soon as they where old enough but now that I read about this (blue born) I'm worried for her. |

Looks more chocolate to me. You probably need to have some DNA testing done on your dogs and I would not breed these particular two dogs together anymore if they are producing multiple off-color pups, could just be a bad mix between the two. It happens. Its your call ultimately. If you are going to breed Yorkies then you should definitely try to achieve pups that fall within the standard and if your breeding pair is coming up short you should really assess them and see if they are truly the best representation of the breed possible. One or more of them may just need to be a pets and you can always invest in dogs from lines who will produce solid pups. |
Blue Born 1 Attachment(s) I am not a breeder nd I would never breed a dog that kept throwing pups like this. I bought her as a pet only she will be fixed just like my other 2 yorkies that I own. I was concerned because of the color she was born nd everything I have read nd what ppl say. Quote:

Blue Born 1 Attachment(s) I'm not a breeder nor will I breed my dog. I was concerned over her color and everything everyone was saying about blue born puppies nd the chance I could loose her or she may have health issues. |
Good luck and have fun with her. Be sure to take pics from time to time and share with us so we can watch her color come in too! |
