I couldn't say if it is unusualy or not...but I've never seen a Yorkie do it...well my Schnorkie but ya know he's half schnauzer so I assumed it was the schnauzer part of him doing it ;)

Looks like there are two more who do it in Maximi's house so that's 3 and a half so far! :rolleyes:

I believe the frog lay schnauzers do is because of their stature...longer back legs than front thus they also appear to extend them...but schnauzers often lay flat on their hips...is that the case with both your Yorkies...longer (slightly just) back legs than front legs? :confused:

Alldogsboots...you should post the pic of your dogs doing this and start a thread about it maybe taking a kind of poll! :) :thumbup:

Really? Is that unusual for a yorkie? Max doesn't do the frog lay as much as he stretches his legs completely out straight.

No, my boys do not have longer back legs. Their toplines are level.

My Maximo can do the same thing on his back, back outer legs flat on the floor. :p

Love all the teapots!! This is my baby Sarge. He's 10 1/2 lbs, and 2 yrs old. Love every pound of him!

In one of pictures he somehow managed to jump into my mom's trashcan (paper only) at work. Haha. That's also when he had to get shaved due to all his mattes..super thick hair!

Sad story though --- his previous owners fed him barely a handful of kibble only 2x a day to keep him "small"..he was STARVING when I brought him home! He'd try to steal Biggie's food every time! My boy Preston is 16 1/2 lbs of pure SWEETNESS. I can't believe he had gone to auction because he was "too big to be sold"!! He is the sweetest, most LOVEABLE, smartest dog I have ever had! His little sister Paisley weighs in at 6lb, and is a crazy little ball of fire.............can be sweet too, but is definitely the "wild child" Funny since she is the smaller of the two. LOL

Rory (darker coloring) is about 12 pounds, and Lane (blonde) is about 10 pounds. They are both actually quite thin and very athletic, but they are nice enough to let me dress them up like little ladies before they start wrestling with each other or demanding to play fetch :D

Here are my babies. Tessie 12 lbs, Hobbes 18 lbs Calvin 9 lbs and Sassy (the baby) 5 lbs. Hobbes is my HUNK of Love, Calvin and Sassy are his siblings from different litters. Tessie is the Princess, Calvin is my snuggle boy and Sassy is my baby girl.

This sounds exactly like Rory! Count her as one who is constantly doing the "frog lay" when she is just relaxing and always on the tile when she is cooling off after fetch. I love when she pounces on a toy and ends up flat like that. It reminds me so much of puppy behavior. I've seen Lane do the frog lay few times but definitely not frequently. She does love to stretch out her legs though.

adorable! i'm glad to know that there is a puppy whose older than mickey! gives me great hope that he still has lots of years left!!!!!


this is mickey (supposed to be my birthday present but ended becoming my brother) he is 15 years old!!! he is dancing around 9pound mark

Bella ~ 9.6 lbs of love :D and she is 2 1/2 years old. And in the first pic with her...is her new brother Harley, he's not over 7 lbs yet but I'm hoping he does.

I have long been a fan of the "teapot". If you have no interest in showing the dog, I find teapots to be great family dogs and much less neurotic. If only the housebreaking problem was another exception!

Giaco is a great dog (not a fashion statement), very calm, sweet and happy to play for hours in Central Park. He loves just about everyone, and does not understand why some dogs need to be Alpha towards him when he just wants to be friends.

I don't know if i should call my baby a teapot or crockpot he is 5 months old and already 9.4 lbs. He is the sweetest puppy and loves my 3 daughters which are 8, 3, and 17 months. I have 3 large dogs and he thinks he is the leader. Im so glade he is a bigger yorkie and not a teacup because he fits in perfectly with my family.

My Dunkin is 9.2 pounds and is 11 years old.
