Babys first hair cut, any advice!? Hello everyone! I need a little help, my Zoey Lynn is ready for her first hair cut! I'm sooooooo nervous! I found a groomers that I like, I checked them out and found they are clean, and animal lovers, so I'm happy. I just want to know what I should ask for, and what I should tell them not to do. She just needs a clean up, and I want her hair long. I heard some stories about groomers trying to talk you into shaving certain spots on the Yorkie that you really shouldn't like the snout. I'm just being a worried mommy, and I want Zoey and me to have a good experience so if anyone could help it would be so appreciated!!!! Thank you! |
my vet recommended that the first haircut should be a very quick trim - nothing too radical. The main point of the first visit was to get her used to the sounds of the grooming equipment and the " new" people while making it a positive experience so future visits would be less stressful. We stuck with doing the bottom and the ears, and a little off the eyebrows since t will not be wearing a topknot. And she got more cuddle time than trimming time. Have your groomer be very detailed and specific about what he or she is going to do, and stick around out of the dog's sight so if the groomer feels a need to change the plan they can ask you first. |
Our First Hair Cut Asa Well! Our two girls just got their first hair cut today. We are going to cut our own furrbabies! I have ordered the Wahl trimmers and some other things - we were shown how to cut them today. It was an overall positivie experience for our girls and for us. We gained confidence that we can to it ourselves! I can't wait until the next one when I am going to be at the helm of the trimmers. She also showed us how to excrete their anal glands - ugh! Their first cuts turned out absolutely adorable! |
