Normal?? Bentley will be 6 mos. on Friday and is loosing his baby teeth. I have read that this usually starts about 4-5mos. I really noticed about 2 wks ago he was red gummed and lost a couple bottom ones. Yesterday he lost a top fang, today a top back tooth and now the same tooth on the other side is really loose. Also, what can I do to help him out? I gave him crushed ice and a wet washcloth to chew on last night. That seemed to help a bit, but tonight the one he lost bled alot and really seemed to bother him because it was grinding against his bottom teeth everytime he moved his mouth. I thought he was chewing on something tiny. |
Well it is good that he is loosing them cause that way he wont need any to be pull by the vet. The cold cloth is a good idea to get some relief. You can moist his food with water so is not that hard for him to chew on. Keep brushing his reminder teeth. |
Marie is right - we also froze carrots for Chew treats when mine were teething - it really seemed to help - IT's GOOD that they lose their teeth on their own - lots of yorkies need their baby teeth pulled ...Chanel lost hers all by herself but Cheri had to have 4 pulled when she was spayed. |
It's a good thing when they come out on their own. I like Villette's idea on the frozen carrots. You could also put his chew toys in the freezer, he will like to chew on them cold. We did that for Princess, and all her baby teeth came out. :) |
Yes, I am glad they are coming out on their own!! BUt it makes me feel so bad for him, I know its uncomfortable. I may try the carrot deal tonight, I figured they would be too hard for him. He lost another this morning, I am starting quite the collection (I have always saved my babies teeth for their scrapbook). Does anyone know when I should expect this to be over? Since I am not getting him fixed I would like to know when I should schedule a visit to the vets to have them checked, but do not want to have to have them pulled unless absolutely necessary. Thanks for all the wonderful input and tips!! |
