My Yorkie is Finally a Certified Alert Animal I have a 1 and a half year old Yorkie named Edward. He's always been amazing with me, but when we got him I noticed that he was always really in-tuned with me more so than my other dogs. I have a pretty severe neurological disorder and I have these random attacks. Well come to find out my little boy would always have a barking fit before I had any attacks, which was odd because he never really barked. At first I thought it was a fluke, but it wasn't. He's now been certified as a medical alert dog and I couldn't be any happier! Now I get to take him everywhere and now no one can say anything. |
Outstanding! Mine can alert me to air. No help whatsoever!:D |
Wow congratulations thats fantastic news. Well done to your little yorkie boy for beling so clever :) xxx |
The only things my two alert me to are squirrels, birds the Mailman and UPS. Good for you, they are amazing! |

He actually just wears a bandanna and walks on a harness. He already knows my college campus like the back of his paw. It's a little awkward because everyone knows his name and doesn't know mine....I'm Eddy's mom....my wonderful college name lol....But I love it! |
That is great. What a smart little one. |
Wow... what a great match.. It was meant to be! |

I just got a Yorkie today to train as my service dog. I too have a neurological condition. I had planned to get a service dog for several years now, but this Yorkie was the first dog that I found to be so in sync with me. I thought the service dog trainers might not take a Yorkie as a service dog seriously because a Yorkie is so tiny. But I think the service dog trainer is as excited as I am! She has thirty years of experience in training dogs and is disabled herself. She is going to meet my pup this Thursday. It will be a lot of work, but I think it will be great for both me and the dog. I am thrilled that I will be able to have this little guy with me everywhere. |
how amazing THREE BARKS FOR EDWARD!! way to look out for your bella edward;) |

Totally AMAZING!!!! He SURE was meant to be yours. I can't believe he just instinctively knew your body chemicals were changing and without any training. :) How Wonderful!!! You are lucky to be able to take him everywhere, but you deserve to as well. So he must be a great ice breaker when it comes to meeting certain people ;) |
I've been around for sooo many years, and it never ceases to amaze me the "beyond imaginable" things that these canines are capable of doing...It's like they are tuned into another dimension, that we are unable to reach...So happy for you, and love Edward's name! It's like he deserves such a grown up name, for such a grown up job that he does :D |
