Questions about food... I was just wondering what/how much all of you feed your babies. Bentley is 5.5mos. and I feed him 3 times a day...about a handful of food (I have small hands)....but he sneaks his brothers food also so I generally have to pick it up. He weighs about 7-7.5lbs. He also gets a tsp can food w/ breakfast I have read that you don't go by the bag recommendations, it's too much for small dogs. Please include weight and age w/ your posts. |
Mine is 15 weeks, I feed him 4 tablespoons per day (about 1/4 cup) of Innova. No canned food, cucumber/carrots snacks (in the afternoon) and treats during the day (for training purposes only). I've not weigh him lately, but I would say he's about 3 lbs + but less than 4 lbs. |
I free feed mine Royal Canin and give them a treat of Lil Caesars every Morning. |
I Free feed Innova EVO and haven't had any weight gain problems, i'm actually trying to put on more weight on my little guy because he's really skinny and i'm afraid it's unhealthy. Oreo is 10 months 4lbs, Ginger is 10 months 7 lbs, Cloey is 7 months 6lbs. |
Chachi… how much lil ceasars do you give your babies? A whole packet or a portion of it? I free feed Bridget the Royal Canin, and give the Ceasars once a day as well, but I’m wondering if the RC kibble might be too big for her. She has to eat things in really small bites. When she turned a year old I moved her over to the adult formula which seems much bigger than the puppy mini bites and she doesn’t seem to like it as well. What do you all think about switching back? I just want to be sure she’s getting enough nutrition. Any thoughts out there? We’re in the process of moving and she’s not eating well as it is. |
where are you all getting these good foods for them. Toby is fed *oh-no* OlRoy and I know this is supposed to be the QUOTE *yuckiest* food, but the only store they have in my area is Complete Pet Mart. This place has nothing!!! And then I could go to walmart??? |
You might try going to a feed store. That's where I found "Chicken Soup for the Pet Lovers" (great dog food) - both our Yorkies love it. I had a terrible time finding a place that carried it. The feed store even had the "sample sizes" of several brands. Our two would not eat Innova. The older one started to itch on Royal Canin for Yorkies. From what I've read on YT, Chicken Soup is one of the best and well worth it's money. Mine aren't itching and no gas so far. Happy New Year! |
I forgot to mention that most of the dog foods at the grocery stores and pet stores are not what I would want to feed my little Yorkies. They deserve better than that. Go to google.com and type in: ingredients in dog food You'll be shocked at what you read! |
I feed Matthias once in the morning and once a night. He's not big on eating at night though. But at least it's offered. Right now, we are feeding both of our dogs Iams - one is on the formula for puppy food, the other for senior. I keep their feeding bowls and sessions seperate from each other so that one does not get in to the other's food. After reading all about Chicken Soup dog food, we are very seriously considering changing to that to see if it makes a difference in Cinamin and to see if it will help Matthias be less picky. :) |
Treats I can't figure out how to start a new thread so will jump in here and ask a couple questions. Can someone tell me where to go to start a NEW message? We feed both Yorkies Chicken Soup that we buy small bags at the feed store. What are the BEST eatable BONES to give for removing tartar? Are organic breath enhancing biscuits good for Yorkies? How long before they stop having to go out to poop during the night? My husband is losing a lot of sleep. We don't have room to put up a pen for the puppy. Besides, we like for the puppy to be with the older Yorkie as much as possible. Happy New Year to all! There isn't much sunshine in Florida this morning. It's colddddddd!*! |
You didn't say how old Matthias is? Our female puppy will be 12 weeks old this Thursday. Our older Yorkie, Muffie, is 10-1/2 years old. |
