NAKC is NOT a registry. They are only involved in the conformation aspect of dog shows.

THe NAKC is not a pet registry. They are a show venue. It is a reputable venue to have your dogs shown and judged.

And as Cindy has already said...this will help the parti breeders validate our breeding programs and show UKC and AKC we are serious.

But yet you have to regtister them with NAKC to be able to show them. So to me not calling themselvwes a registry is just a technicallity.

I just exopressed my opinion. that is all, I do not care to argue about it. what's done is done.

I just fear that they will take the same route as the Biewers and soon there will be a group claiming that they are not real yorkshire terriers and try to register them as Parti Terriers.

None of which I can do anything about except to express my opinion.

Now had they put them in with the Yorkshire Terriers, that would have been an accomplishment and a credit to the dogs. but since they didn't they merely tossed you bone.

NAKC is not a registry for dogs, it is show venue period! This is the first step to hopefully the parti yorkshire terrier becoming a variety with AKC conformation shows. This is a venue for people wanting to validate their breeding stock/programs.

Yes I read that on their websdite. but I beg to differ since you do have to register them (for a fee) in order to participate in their shows.

There have been many AKC show exhibitors also show in the UKC venue and their dogs have to be registered with UKC also. But registering your dogs with APRI just to show them is a big step backwards in my opinion. The parti is already registered with AKC.

OMG are you out of your mind? Partis are AKC registered Yorkshire Terriers, why on earth would anyone try to change that.
The biewers never were registered AKC that is why all the fuss about them.

It is an invaluable experience for breeders, the dogs and even the pet owners to learn about their breed.

I just can't imagine anyone who raises Parti's not be over joyed with this news.. It is not full AKC acceptance in the ring.. I get that.. but just because someone can't afford a Lexus doesn't mean they don't drive. A wonderful opportunity has been presented to the Parti's because of this acceptance by the NAKC. One can choose to take advantage of it.. or not. I can tell you that those who's programs choose to grab hold, will be all the better for it.

I have shown with NAKC and the only time I have registered a dog is to register them to be in a show.. the handler/breeder is registered every year.. this makes them a member and covered under insurance. This I believe started about 2 years ago.. maybe wrong on the exact date on that.. but to my knowledge.. the dogs are not registered other than show entry.

I am curious to know if you have registered your dogs with APRI and show them in the APRI shows?

There are people who just want to breed and make a buck period. If one does not truly see the huge opportunity this will bring to the parti yorkie and the breeders who want to validate their dogs it is sad.

Nope not out opf my mind. Just worried that this might be the wrong path.

Sorry I'm just not thrilled with this. Impatience causes people to take short cuts and shortcuts can lead to trouble.

You are all thrilled and that is great. I however do not see it as a good move.

Well if you are waiting around for the YTCA to openly invite the parti yorkshire terrier into the ring as a variety of their breed you will be waiting for a very long time! They have already taken the step to add certain color DQ into the yorkshire terrier standard because of the biewer, parti colored yorkie and all the other colors being bred. I do believe the parti colored yorkshire terrier should be a variety, but I do not believe in the chocolate, gold and whatever else some breeders have come up with.

You are correct...this is America...you have a right to your opinion. And I will respect that.

But I for one am grateful for all the research and hard work Debbie and the PYTC put forth to get this accomplished. And they are not done...there are other venues out there they are working on and hopefully we will have even more places to show the parti in the future.
The parti has been AKC registered for 10 years now. This was the first step since they were registered that helps in legitimizing the parti yorkie as something more then just a money maker for BYB's. I for one am thrilled about that!

Actually.. I see exactly where you are going with this, and yes.. I do see the pitfalls. Let's hope that people have learned by past mistakes.

Mr. Biewer wanted to show his tri colored yorkies as yorkies.. he was not allowed to do so BUT they said.. you can make a standard.. call them something else.. THEN you can show them.. so.. that's what he did.. WALLA.. new breed. Instead of insisting they were a color variation of the yorkie.. which they are and which a Parti is.. he went with the "new breed" I'll show and get it out there.

So.. now we have the Biewer being it's OWN breed.. I can see your concerns. Some of us have been fighting that battle for years. However, I don't believe the chances of the same thing happening now with the Parti's are as great.. more people are aware of what's going on.. they have already been AKC accepted, DNA testing has proven the lineage and we now have much better forms of communication then was available back in Germany some 30 odd years ago..

So.. even though I see your point and WISH people would all just get on board with the idea these are ALL the same dogs.. most people just AREN'T there yet. I see the change coming slowly.. little by little as more people open up their minds, start to THINK and look at what's going on instead of just bury their heads. (sorry.. she jumps off her soap box) I think we take what we've been given and introduce the rest of the world to these beautiful dogs.. hold tight to our beliefs that these are a variant color of a yorkie and keep our goals in mind in all we do. The more people are exposed, the more questions they ask, the more they learn, the more they think.. the closer we get.
