How awful! My prayers are with the little dog, please keep us posted. Glad you were there to help. I'm sure things will go well on Friday:) |
OMG, I think I would move. Too much drama for me. I hope the baby is Ok. It is sure to be scared and the poor little girl as well. I don't care how many signs you have, that animal should have been secured better. What if he had gone after the child. This could have been a much worse outcome. What are people thinking. |
 OMG , when it rains it pours :( I bet you are a fantastic neighbor with a huge heart when it comes to animal welfare. I hope the little dog is going to be ok .What trauma the young girl had to witness her beloved dog being maluled by anther dog. SO upsetting. I hope things improve for you . You did what you had to do in order to save this poor dogs life. Oh well if the neighbor of the big dog did not like it . The other neighbor , I think has nothing else to do then to stir up trouble . IMHO , you seem like a terrific neighbor . :) |
I'm glad you are ok! That poor little dog though.:( |
Wow I'm beginning to wonder why so many people in this world LOVE drama, I just don't get it. I feel so sorry for you living with a neighbor like that, I wouldn't be able to stand it! I hope the little guy will be ok, I can't believe the neighbor would make excuses for her dog acting like that, its ridiculous. I hope everything works out for you, as I'm sure it will but will keep you and your pets in my thoughts. I agree with the rest, you seem like a terrific neighbor, if it wasn't for you something worse could've happened to that poor little dog! |
omg! Just what you needed, more drama!!! Wow, that had to have been quite an experience. Are you, your friend & little girl OK? Just to clarify... they took away the attacking dog? I'm assuming you are all OK w/hs, right? Sounds like the little girl has some guts. Good for her! Time for you to kick back & relax. You've had quite a day!!! Good job! |

heres praying you and your little ones have a peaceful night ahead and a wonderful tomorrow :) |
Update little guy whos name is Ben will be fine he was given a topical ointment for the bite marks and did not need stitches. Molly the little girl brought me and my best friend candy and flowers to thank us for saving her dog :) i feel like the drama this morning was so we would be out there to help Molly and Ben, God has a plan everyday and today his plan gave me a headache but it saved a dog. so im happy the dog who attacked Ben is going to be returned to his owner but from now on he has to wear a muzzle and be on a lead while outside. i guess he will not be put down because he is still is training to break the habits he learned in the fighting ring i guess he is barely a year and come from out of state to get a second chance we all decided to give him one more chance. as for me and my babies we will be sitting down in front of the tv with our dinner and the Simpsons DVD until we fall asleep so i will talk to all of you tomorrow |

I'm sure it will be abundantly clear to the HS that you more than provide for your dogs. No worries. It amazes me that they'd check out every single complaint! I've never had to call them but it's good to know. Unfortunately Child Protective Services doesn't even respond that well (through no fault of their own- just not enough man-power!) Enjoy your night with your furr-butts:) |
Wow - I hope you handle this situation better than I would - I probably would be downright rude - so who reported this???? do you know??? |

To be continued................. Stayed tuned for the next episode!!!! |
I would feel the same way that you do. I'm sure it's just some pissy neighbor being a jerk. Do your dogs bark a lot? If you have paperwork stating that everything is as it should be then you're fine, don't sweat it. From what I can see you're just someone who loves animals very much and it's just coming around to bite you in the @ss. But you have to remember, the humane society also has to deal with scumbags on a daily basis who horribly abuse animals, so they're just doing their job. |
I am sitting here with my mouth open, after reading 3 pages of posts. They say there is a reason for everything and it definitely showed today. I am so glad that everything is okay...for now. I can't wait to find out more. Stay safe and try to relax. You did a wonderful job today! :D |
BTW, you did such a wonderful thing by helping that little girl's dog. I'm glad to hear he was OK. Can't wait to hear from you on the humane society! |
I just got in and was checking in to see how the apt. went... when holy hannah girl, when it rains it pours. Thanks goodness you were there to help that poor little thing. Maybe the man who was going to interview you got a good view of how you help people and pets. Boy you deserve a break! |
I was in your situation a few years back when I used to raise my registered Bengal cats (not the tigers :)). There was an angry lady who was living with 90 cats and she had them taken away from her. I had my stud male (spraying, not suitable for in the home) in a nice roomy outdoor caged area on my deck. One day I had the SPCA show up on my deck to investigate without any warning. She checked to make sure my cats had food and water and as she was leaving she said in her Australian accent "These cats are bloody well spoiled". I was angry that "someone" had reported me but also could appreciate the fact that the SPCA lady was doing what was best for my cats. Some people are just not mentally balanced, guess it's what makes the world an interesting place. I am so glad you were there when that little pup needed your help. Good luck with your inspection, find neighbours and friends who know how you treat your pets and feel proud of how you care for them! |
WOW, what a day you have had! You sound like a lovely person, and I think everything happens for a reason too, thank goodness you were outside, so you could save that lil guy..... Keeping you in my thoughts, for the HS visit, I am sure you will pass with flying colors!..sorry that someone is causing so much trouble to you, some ppl have nothing to do but look for trouble, or cause it. |
So glad to hear that the little guy is going to be ok. So glad you were there at the right time. You sound like a good furbaby mommy. ( AND a good neighbor)!!:) Sorry that some people just don't have a life. Just remember.....karma is a b*tch:D What goes around, comes around!!:p That person should stop and think about that!!! Good luck with your visit. Please keep us posted. |
unfortunately they have to follow up on any leads/complaints made. But im sure once they come and see the place they will give you the all clear :) It's just one of your neighbouts being a pain in the arse! I often watch those Animal Planet programs, and normally if they check the place out and everything is in order the close the case. They might pay you another visit to make sure in future tho. Keep your vet records on hand too |
just to let everyone know the humane society is coming 11:00 tomorrow. i don't know anything else about Ben or the dog who attacked him but i do know that the neighborhood is starting a petition to have him not be allowed outside unless his owner is with him to try and keep another attack from happening. ill let everyone know tomorrow how the inspection goes |
Well stay strong and remember if they question your intentions then just print them off theese posts 4 pages of everyone saying your an amazing pet owner and a great help to that little girl and her little guy and who knows yorkie love better then all of us :) |

This is a great idea to keep everyone safe just incase she's not a good owner and allows this dog out into the yard without the lead on as the HS has stated she needs to do from here on in. Since this dog is capable of jumping the fence everyone needs to be protected.. Since the HS won't tell you who put in the compaint I would ask them if this party is going to be fined for putting in a false one, if all turns out well. Afterall, it this is a false complaint they are taking up valuable time from the HS in checking you out when they could possibly be saving an animal in need. |

Ann, thank you for posting the link to the Stark County Humane Society. I did look under services and learned that in Stark County the HS does assist in the prosecution of owners of neglected and abused animals. My comments on page 1 of this thread were based on the knowledge that I have of our HS here in Brunswick, GA. The HS here does not have any investigative officers, and does nothing but rescue animals. I didn't know the HS in any county had officers. I think that it is wonderful that they can investigate every complaint whether it has validity to it or not. They don't know until they check. We are not fortunate enough to have that additional investigative help here, and our county animal control could certainly use some help. Thanks again for posting the link. I was worried about the authenticity of of the officers calling on her! Cruelty Investigations Our officers continue to respond to complaints regarding cruelty, abuse or abandonment of animals throughout the county. While education of pet owners may be appropriate in some cases; our officers are trained in compiling evidence in order to successfully prosecute pet owners who violate the law. In 2009, a total of 613 complaints were investigated. A large number of these complaints were due to pet owners moving and not taking their pet(s) with them. We had a number of calls from health departments and social service agencies because an owner was not able to care for their animal(s) and/or had a large number of animals in their home. Ohio still is behind the rest of the country in updating our cruelty laws. Many of our animal laws are over 150 years old, and desperately need revised. |
Now I am hooked on the story. I am awaiting closure. |
Me too BellaDonna, I'm waiting with you! |

Me too! I pray that everything works out well for her! |

There is a dumb snitch in our neighborhood (and we know who it is) who always calls police and parking enforcement on so many people here. The thing is though, the city needs money, so they will just write us the ticket, knowing it will be impossible to fight it, and we just have to end up paying. |
