Fasteddie-Im new and wondering how old your Yorkie is? Hi, I was wondering how old your Yorkie is. I recently adopted a Yorkie from a shelter and they said he was between 8 and 10. I think he is older because of the way he acts. He is blind in one eye, need some teeth pulled, has a infection in his gums, wobbles a little when he walks, sleeps alot and weighs about 7 lbs. I guess Im just trying to see if this is how seniors are. I am worried about him all the time. |
I'm sorry you are worried - we had elderly yorkies until 2 years ago (they were over 14 ) and they were very active to the end but eventually one had heart problems and the other liver problems. How long have you had him? Unless he is microchipped there is no way of saying how old he is but I do know one thing - shelters are well known for saying that dogs are younger than they probably are? may not be the case here though, maybe he has had a bad time and needs to adapt and gain confidence in you and your family? Many oldies can give so much love.. Ana xx |
I have only had him for about 5 days. He is on an antibiotic for his teeth that are infected. I love him already |
Maybe he has toothache at the moment and he isn't feeling too happy? Once you sort out his problems and he really settles in you could see a very different dog! Doesn't take long to get attached does it?!! Let us know how he gets on! |
Yoda will be three years old in April 2005. :) I hear older Yorkies are a bit slower, but depending on if they were abused or anything, they could limp or wobble. But as for sleeping, Yorkies do sleep a lot, at least from what I read and hear. Good luck, that's great you rescued him. |
