| I live in a small town in Illinois and we aren't required to have dog licenses. We do have to pay for rabies tags every year. Get this. It is only $15.00! What a difference from where we used to live, but we only paid a few dollars for their licenses. |

| i pay $60 for my kennel license(for six dogs) and a dollar for each dog after that i live on my own now and only have 3 dogs so i would pay $8 a dog ($24) but if i move back in with my roomate i would have to have the kennel license( she has 4 dogs) it seems confusing when i put it out like that sorry

| hi again, i was reading up on the news, northern ireland have the most stray and abandon dogs in uk, which i am ASHAMED to say, so they bringing this in to make owners responsible, and it going to be an OFFENSE now if a dog hurts someones pet,, which is music to my ears,,, after reading some sad stories on yt some people losing their poor pet due to neighbours dogs, so GOOD NEWS FOR A CHANGE, only thing some off the money shud go to the dog homes,

I seen this on the news last night too. My questions are: how are they going to enforce it?? I chose to get a license for Millie, but if I hadnt, how would they know I had a dog. Toby doesnt have a license. People are more likely to license the dog if it £5 rather than £50. Are they hoping that people wont buy a dog because of the £50 license fee? I dont know too many people about here with dog licenses!! Seems rather strange...... Dont think it will do anything for stray dogs, just helps line the governments pockets.

| Here in Oakland, California all dogs are required to be microchipped (which can be done for $10 at the local animal shelter). A license costs $100 for an unaltered dog and $10 for one that has been spayed/neutered. |

| yes thats right microchiping will be compulsary which is great, well i think if someones dog gets out or hurts something then they can catch them out, but otherwise i not sure how they will know, it all sounds great unless they work with the vets, people getting new babies then taking it to the vet for injections , then the vet might register the dog ,, just a thought. wat do u think?

Do you have to be proactive about getting the dog chipped and licensed, or how do they enforce it. I really cant see how increasing a license fee will reduce stray dog numbers though.
