| Not getting hair to shine I give my yorkie a bath about every 7-10 days. I have not found any shampoo or conditioner that makes the hair shine. I just use a puppy brand, and did not take me long to figure out that I am not using the best. I would love to hear what you guy use and are happy with. Most conditioners will make the hair soft, but I want her hair to shine and I am not getting that right now. Thanks!! |

YT 2000 Club Member | have you tried adding fish oil to her diet? I use ark naturals royal coat express. Its used for lots of other things too like dry itchy skin etc, but it also makes the coat shiny. You may also be bathing your pup too much, drying her coat out. I dont bath my dogs very often, usually only when they absoutly need it. I do spray them down with some water and brush them daily. I do know some on here bath often that could give you some advice about what shampoos to use.

| How old is your puppy? They do go through a stage while blowing their puppy coat where the hair looks dry and dull. Once the puppy coat is gone and the adult coat is in it will be different. My groomer told me not to bathe more than every second or third week with Yorkies because bathing too often can actually cause the hair to look dull and give them dry skin. Also, what are you feeding? If your Yorkie is an adult it could be the food. Does your Yorkie have a silk, cotton or wooley coat? The type of coat your Yorkie has will also determine whether or not it will have a shiney coat. |

| What type of coat does she have? If it's a cotton coat, they don't have the shine that silky coats do, no matter what product you use.

| Zeus has a very shiny coat. I bathe him once a week with happytails products and give him fish oil daily. I love happytails Fur Butter (or fur worse) conditioner. |

| My baby is 6 month old. Has kind of cotton-wooley coat. Does not have dry shin, hair is soft, but not all that shiney or as shiney as I would like it to be. Where do you get the fish oil that you all talk about? I feed her Science Diet. |

| I use fish oil capsules that you find in the vitamin aisle. I cut it open and add it to his morning meal. |

| What goes in their diet can make a big difference in the shine/lustre of the coat. Have you tried extra virgin coconut oil as a dietary supplement? Google it with dog health and you'll find lots of good info

| I like Bio-groom and Chris Christensen grooming product. Also good food, fish oil supplement will help a lot. Also, a little tiny touch of coconut oil when grooming will make the hair really shinny. Good luck |

| Your baby being soft coated will probably never have the shine that you desire. But, adding fish oil the diet does nothing but good for their overall health.
