I sold AVON for 10 years now and they have not did animal testng while I was a rep. so this list is either very old or very flawed |
actually, it looks like avon was already taken off the list on the updated list, which is the second half of the first post. (it also lists the product as well on that updated list) |
Now I am confused, I thought the 2nd half was products made by Proctor and Gamble, although I have never heard of some of them. |

Don't worry, it's all educational. |
I am not trying to stir anything up I am just saying the list is either old or wrong. My sister has boycotted companies that test animals and quit buying products. I was just saying if your one who does boycott and buys AVON that they do NOT test on animals. |

Sorry about all this. Sensitive Subject..... Sorry again everyone, I shouldn't be posting things I'm not 100% sure about.... I kinda just came across this link and posted it thinking it would give people a different perspective on some highly respected manufacturers. I didn't really think about what I was potentially inducing. Like I said before, I eat meat and I buy loads of things for my house without reading labels or looking for "cruelty free" stamps but the idea is that if I'm making a choice between say, 2 shampoo's, one is cruelty free and the other does all that testing, than maybe I'll choose the first choice, the better choice. That's all. :cf57: |

(((((HUGS)))))) don't worry you did nothing wrong. If I sounded snippy I wasn't trying to be. the sad part about it is some companies do test on animals. |
No no..... No one has upset me at all, (I do love hugs though :)) I just don't want to upset anybody. That's all......:) We're all good people I think. No need to get upset with eachother, right? Keep up the Yorkie Talk all.... No hard feelings...... :ghug: |

No need to apologize, you did nothing wrong. There is always a lot of passionate discussion here, and I thank you for contributing to it. :) |
Looked over the list and read the replies and really don't understand all the confusion. A few general opinions/observations. I don't condone animal testing when it can be avoided (for cosmetic items) Admitedly, I know very little about why any such test would be deemed neccessary. Could be a valid reason, but I doubt it. I do, however, feel completely different in regards to animals being used to test medical procedures and medications. I *think* in regards to all the mentions of libel/slander, no, it's not libel if it is true. It was stated by a few that what was posted was fact. So I guess the determining factor would be, IS IT actually fact? I think that was all coolbar meant when she posted her warning. |
Ah! you understand what I meant, Thankyou. By the way coolbar is a he, I will let you off this time lol. Quote:

Yes, I understood what you meant....seemed pretty simple to me. But heck, I've had my days when I just couldn't wrap my brain around the obvious. ;) |
just had to put in my two cents here, saw this old post and wanted to comment on it, i agree with Coolbar, if they had to test something that could save millions of human lives on a rat, i honestly can't say i'd mind...i know it sounds cruel, but i'm not really a PETA person myself and i think that certain animals are usful to us humans in certain ways. i may have a total double standard here, because if they tested on dogs, i'd be furious, or cats even, but rats don't bother me one bit, they can be pets to some people i guess, but to me they are just rodents, and btw our precious yorkies just love to chase and catch em' ;) i was raised that certain animals are put on this earth for human use, such as deer, cattle, pigs, turkey, chicken, ext. there is nothing wrong with hunting them in an ethical way and making a clean kill and eating them and using their hide. i believe strongly that most/all parts should be used when taking an animals life for food and warmth. i guess i'm quite Native American in this principle. but rats i don't really give a "rat's butt" about. sorry just being honest and this is MY OPINION. i hope those cosmetic companies aren't testing products on dogs and cats, if they are that's sick and disgusting, but if i allowed myself to boycott every company that in some way tests a product on animals i would have to give up bathing, smelling good, wearing make-up and any other hygienic product, because it seems like everything i use to get ready every day is on the list...so personally, i'm ignoring the list and going on with my life here...just my own personal choices. |
