Does your Yorkie know when your going out?
 

As hard as I try to not let Buddy know I am going out when I get
home at night after work, he knows everytime!:confused: How?
I swear this dog understands the English language more than I
realize.
Last night I had to go back out for my grandson's award night
at the HS.
I knew I had to trick Buddy into thinking I was not going out.
This dosen't happen often but when it does he won't eat a thing.
I changed into a robe, like any other night, put my pocketbook
away and made his dinner and put a tv dinner into the microwave
for me. All he did was stare at me:confused: Now you tell me how this
dog knew I was going out? I sat and ate and he continuted to
stare at me. When I got up to wash the dish he stated at me
and did not eat. It happens every time. Nothing was different
in any way. He had to hear me talk to my daughter about picking
me up. I got dressed 1/2 hr later and left as I heard him howling
from outside. He had no dinner either. I tried to fool him but I
never can. He too smart for me. It's upsetting really because he
had no dinner and I swear I did nothing any different than any
other night when he gobbles up his dinner except talk to my daughter
about picking me up. He understood every word. You may think
I'm nut's but this dog is smater than a fifth grader:p




P.S. my 15yr old grandson received 4 high honor awards.
I am so very proud of him. Maybe Buddy takes after him:rolleyes:

Actually dogs are more intuitive than we think. The inflection of your voice on the phone could've given you away. Or since you were so busy "being normal"..but obviously paying a great deal of attention to his reaction...he knew.

Sugar always knows too. Usually keys shoes coat or purse are clues - but she doesn't rely solely on THOSE clues :questione

I used to have to try and change my routine in the morning so I wouldn't have to be late for work by chasing our Lhasa Poo. She hated me going to work and did everything she could to keep me home longer. I tried to trick her by doing something different every now and then.

Buddy is a smart yorkie. I went through this with Chachi this past weekend. My Husband went out of town and Chachi whined for the longest time and then I couldnt get him to eat. I felt so bad for the little guy. Jewels favors me so she just went on her merry way but Chachi was heart broken

Believe me I know this too well.
Shoes, pocketbook and clothes all hung up like any other night!
It's a pain to go threw all these proceedures only to do it all over
again 1/2 hr later and the dog still does not eat!
I know also not to use the word "coming" ever when going out.
Yet he knew I was:confused: When a dog get's as smart as a human it's
plain scary.

Bailey knows too and refuses to eat sometimes. I have to sit on the floor with him and coax him to eat with treats some mornings JUST to get him to eat b/c he's so upset that i'm going to work. It's so heart breaking!!! :(

Going to work is never the problem this has become routine I suppose.
He would prefer me to stay home I'm sure but going out again when
I get home is the problem. I have tried fooling him to the max and
he just knows anyhow and won't go near his food. It's frustrating.
It only happens far and between that I have to go back out,
at times he goes with me too and still won't eat. LOL

Congrats on a smart grandson and Yorkie! That is very intuitive! I don't think mine get it from conversation alone but they always know when we are getting ready to leave them. I think shoes are a big factor for mine as I never wear them in the house. They also react to certain clothes. A dress or skirt makes them instantly antsy as they know I am leaving the house.

The most reaction I get from clothing is putting on a bathing suit. They immediately go crazy, knowing I will take them out and splash them by the pool. Ben and Candy are both addicted to the water. They will sometimes jump in on their own but they really prefer to run from one side of the pool to the other and have me splash water at them so they can catch it in their mouth. They get mad when I cut them off worrying too much water will make them sick.

Your Buddy sounds like he is realy tuned to you!

They TOTALLY know when you're going out! I have no idea how they do it! Pasquale knows when i'm going out..cause i find him hiding under the table (he goes in his crate when i'm gone) I wish they could talk!! Id love to know what they are thinking......or do i? :eek:

mine know for sure every time i walk out the door ciara always tryis to run to the car she loves car rides i take her alot of places with me

So many great posts. My Krystal doesn't like it when I leave after work, but she gets to go with me a lot so doesn't make a stink too often. Definately no howling. But going to work in the morning can be so funny. After I lay out my uniform, she'll stand on it and flick her back feet backward like she wants to shread them. :eek: When it comes to my shoes she can untie them almost as fast as I can tie them.:rollingey But once downstairs and fed, one little treat and I'm out the door(she does follow me to the door):D

My Yorkie knows, my Biewers know, and my Maltese know, lol. It is soooo hard!!

I wear different shoes to work, then i do when going out, and they all know...<<<<<<<<<<<sigh>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

The guilt is not always easy to overcome, I think that is why many of us have more than one furbaby :)

my girls always know when I am getting ready to go out. They know the shower and the blow dryer means us going out. Gracie and Tsubi dont really care but Tumi gets very sad when I leave. I would think she is used to it by now since I go to work 5 days a week..lol..Maybe because My hubby and I spoil our girls when we are off and spend every minute with them. lol

cash does the same thing!!!!

He knows keys and grabbing a purse he also knows when you lean forward and do that the pat on your spouses leg as a sign of well are you ready.

The problem is cash attacks us as we leave, biting and barking and attempting to rip apart his toys.

Cash also knows, cookie, bed, dad, mom, chopper, grandpa, potty, almost there and a bunch of others, but he wont stay or sit on camand. lol :rolleyes:

Curly knows too! She will follow me every step and if I even look towards the front door, she jets right over to it and wags her cute little nub, hoping I'm going to grab that leash!

OMG jeje perrito know everytime even when I tried to hide my purse so he won't see it, I can't belive how smart dogs are the funny thing is that I make the same rutine when I cleaning and he wont care.........pretty amazing

My daughter's two giant :animal36 Mastiff's :animal36 are so smart, too that she actually has to spell the word W-A-L-K or they will :Dgo nuts and start doing a big dance at the front door!

Genghis doesn't eat when we are away but he will bark till he vomits. As soon as we get home he greats us and proceeds to ravingly eat all the dog food. He hates being left alone even for an hour. Sometimes I go to the gym and when I get back he's shaking and clearly upset.

If your looking for a pet to be just that, a pet, don't get
a Yorkie because you have to be one step ahead of them
at all times.

You betcha! Not only does Hiro and Sam know when I am geting ready to go somewhere, they know the difference in the outfits and what they mean! Like bikini meaning play afternoon in the yard,or pj's during day for lazing aound, and how they know the difference between pj's and lounge type pants that I can wear in public (same material even), beats me! Sometimes I m sitting on the couch reading and just think to myself, I'm gonna go to Wal-Mart, then I get up off the couch (I could be going to the bathrom) but they know that I am going to leave..and all I did was stand up-hadn't even moved! :)

LOL this is sooooooooooooo true!

Tia knows when I get my bike out of the shed that Im going to work. She gets her teddy and strolls to her bed and waits for me to give her a treat before I leave. Its a little ritual that happens every morning and lunchtime. Smart babies lol

Yes, they know. Mine don't seem to care too much though. "See ya' mom!"
