Above shows it is true there is no "pup mill laws" however this law was made in 2009 and still stands unamended.

That seems like a pretty weak law to me...50 intact dogs!?? What reputable breeder has THAT many intact dogs?! 11 females ....perhaps...but even that seems excessive to me for someone who is supposed to be interested in improving the breed, which, IMHO, is the only reason people should be breeding but that's just my personal opinion. I have a lot of ideas about how to stop milling. Once I get them formulated I will start a campaign. I think individuals have a lot of power to make change and affect laws and change....and with the use of the Internet but it has to be a combined effort, between reputable breeders, licensing and registering bodies, and average pet people....but if it is well done I that a difference can be made.

If nothing else you can get as many people as possible to contact your local legislators asking them to do something to set up regulations for kennels, in particular puppy mills that keep dogs in such deplorable conditions. Noting will ever be done until people get involved. Get someone in there to take pictures and post them all over the state. As long as this is a dirty little secret kept for the advantage of those who exploit animals nothing will ever change!

When you do post it or share here...many YTers in TX and many of us who are not who will unequivecly support the cause.

From what I have seen of states that do make laws concerning puppy mills there seems to be a strong "lobby' from the puppy millers. Bills get watered down and some breeders say the laws will effect their ability to conduct their breeding programs. What ends up being put into law are laws that are hard to enforce and really don't help get rid of the puppy mills at all. Someone has influence in this industry.

I went to that site and it sickened me to see those poor puppies. I don't know why people are allowed to get away with this stuff....it disgusts me.

The hardest thing to get passed I think is a law against puppy mills and I think part of the problem is they add so much other stuff to it like in Missouri there were also all the laws about cattle and such and I truly believe that is why it has failed so many times here :(

Back during the industrial revolution (1750-1850) children were treated as prisoners to work in mills and other industries. It took many many years for anything to be done to save these poor children from the injustice of their suffering. The wheels of justice seem to turn very slowly even in this nation that is far advanced over many areas of the world. There has to be a very public outcry in order to get public sentiment behind a just cause. So far there has been far too little public education and the media has been mostly silent about puppy mills. Puppy mill owners seem to have some power to lobby against restrictions as most bills that have been presented become watered down by the time they are passed. It is going to take some serious organization to get strict laws passed to stop this disgusting industry.

I find the Missori laws strange. We all know it iz pup mill capital USA however the cattle and all livestock working made ranchers vote against it what the yorkies! How hard is it to say stop caging abusing over breeding neglecting denying food water vet care to love compasssion exercise etc? I find it sickening the USDA laws are So Minimal yet they can't even be followed. We need more crimi.al prosecutions. That will cost money and pup mills are lobbied for and create revenues...we are zo easily bought and so are our politicians.

Great news everyone, I received a message from the SPCA of the United States. They state that Jeff has broken multiple laws and want me to file against him. I am waiting until Monday to get the full report from my Vet and I am pressing charges against him. Wish me luck.

Sorry, But I have no sympathy for a back yard breeder who was just trying to procure new breeding stock. The OP bought from Jeff because registration was open (CKC). OP has had at least 23 dogs in the past 3 years (multiple puppy litters). Esther doesn't show or breed to improve her lines. She has no lines. She breeds to make money off her poor dog's backs. If she finds out Csi-Csu isn't all Yorkie, he'll be gone very quickly. Sorry, I really don't mean to be mean spirited. It's just my opinion. I am very sorry for all the other posters who were misled by Jeff. You didn't deserve it.

CKC- Continental Kennel Club (not so reputable IMO) or Canadian Kennel Club

From Continental's website http://www.continentalkennelclub.com...ineApp2009.pdf - Parents don't have to be purebred to be registered as yorkie. You just need next and 2 people to say it is a yorkie :thumbdown

Non-Purebred - Mixed Breeds - Continental Kennel Club Can register mix breed dogs, too.

I didn't post on here because I was a tad offended that the OP said ugly rat in reference to her new furbaby. Thank you for bringing this to my attention Kim. I hope others read your post.

I don't understand this either but I suspect that it has something to do with the way our "usda" meats enter the food chain. It is a disgrace the way cattle and other animals raised for food are treated. There is a strong lobby that keeps watering down every legislation that is brought forward to regulate puppy mills. There has to be a connection some where.

WOW!!! This is intesting....and here i was feeling sorry for yet another person duped by this Jeff person! Thanks KimInMD for the info...she isn't so nice after all...just my opinion, not trying to judge anyone here. This just reiterates do your research folks...check and re-check!! I learned that the hard way....thank goodness my two that i bought from a byb are healthy so far>many aren't as I now know.
