Yes they can be pee-pad trained and they can be trained not to mark If he is neutered before he lifts his leg the chances of him marking are way less. Males are just as wonderful as females.

you got me laughing my ass off too. I am still like you, only waanting the female dogs, and small little ones too! My brother brought his Male dog in my home, w/o permission , He is a good sized CHI, and that dod lifted his leg up and peed on the back of my couch A nice couch too . I have nothing personal against boy dogs, as along as they as propperly trained. I do not have experience with them though> So I prefer little girl Yorkies ANd guess what? My Suzi lifts her leg to pee, on her pads, and when outside, she marks every 30 seconds . oh well, so much for that therory !

I have to disagree with this, not all males can be trained not to mark!

Males can be trained to not mark territory in the house. Please don't put words in my mouth, no where did I state "ALL males can be trained to not mark. My words exactly as they were written" "Yes they can be pee-pad trained and they can be trained not to mark" And thank you you are entitled to your opinion as we all are.

My dog has a sweet personality and he potties on washable pads. He does not lift his leg to pee. He marked once on a tree in my backyard, and I got him neutered immediately. He has never marked again.

How welcome to YT. I have females and a little male. Beans, my male is my second male Yorkie. My first male Yorkie NEVER did a thing in the house, never marked etc. but did mark outside. He was neutered at six month of age. He potty trained much easier then my females and like I said was just an angel that never did anything wrong and a love bug. One would even consider him a little sissy wimp. LOL. Now Beans, he's a different story. LOL. He was also neutered at six months of age and does mark in the house. Occassionally I should say. This is really his only fault. He like my first male is a wimpy, has to be on your lap, follow you all over type of dog and will cry to be picked up and cry if you're not snuggling with him in bed. Now, my females are stubborn, did not potty train easy but cuddle bugs. Yet, more independent then either of my males were. One poster mentioned that she heard that the males are more affectionate. I've heard that statment too. I don't know if I necessarily agree with it. I think it's really dependent on each dog rather then the sex but I do think that based on experience that the males do tend to be more needy or more of a lap dog then the females but again that is really and individual thing. I can't wait to see pics and again welcome. Elaine

Oh let me tell you . . . I seriously considered it. Unfortunately, at some point, I do want grand kiddies that don't bark. Michele :-)
