Chewing!!!!!!!!! Roxy is 9 months old now and she has never torn up anything in our house!! Yesterday I came home at lunch and she had completely chewed thru an (unplugged) extension cord. I came home after work and she had torn up the edge of the carpeting. Today I left out tons of chew toys and she was fine. We went to a 2 hour dinner tonight, came home and found another chewed thru extension cord and the edge of the carpet torn up again!! What in the world?? We have a baby gate to keep them in the laundry room but she jumps it, she gets lots of exercise, she is not left alone-Malibu is with her, I leave out tons of chew sticks and toys...anyone have a similar situation? Please tell me it will pass before my house is destroyed or that you have a solution...

It sure makes it hard when they are escape artists doesnt it?? I was going to suggest an ex-pen but more than likely yours will manage to get out. I know some people have stacked 2 baby gates so they can't jump it and I've also heard suggestions of plexi-glass in front of it if they are climbers. Good luck to you!

| If this is something that has just started it would make me think she is acting out trying to tell you something. It's not so much that she is wanting to chew, like puppies have the urge to, but that she is trying to let you know that she is bored. Perhaps, even with the companion and toys, she is really just bored-stir crazy-has cabin fever. Can you get her out for walks every day? Dogs need some type of out of the house activity, walking is the best. At least 30 minutes once a day. If the weather doesn't permit that, try and get her out to a pet store or other dog friendly store to walk around and see the sites. Even car rides help. There are a lot of YT'ers here in Texas, can you find a some around you to do play dates with? Have you tried any of the treat balls type toys that are out. Ones were she has to work out the puzzle to get the treat out? Anything to stimulate the mind. Good luck, let us know what you find that works.

I would suggest an xpen also, you can always make a wooden top for it, that's what hubby had to do before. A lot of them don't start chewing until around that age, that's what my sons yorkies did, right around 9 mos, they started chewing up his edge of his carpet, they will chew until around a year or a little over a year, she will outgrow it

Thanks! I think I have figured out a solution to keep her in our laundry room. 2 gates stacked on top of each other and plexiglass covering all the holes so she can't climb. I will video record her the first time we leave with these new gates to make sure it is safe. Sadly I have let our walks slide in light of the cold weather...I will just bundle up and do it!
