Dog Boots? Does anyone have any recommendations on comfortable boots for winter paw protection :p? Mine absolutely hate them, but they really want to go on some walks this winter and last year we had paw issues from walking outside in the cold. |
I bought some at the local PetSmart (made by Companion for $15), as I was worried about my 7 month old Yorkie walking in the snow. We finally got snow for the first time this week and he is still trying to get used to wearing them (pretty funny to watch), but if I don't put them on I can tell his paws get too cold. Sometimes he kicks one of the front boots off, so I have to make sure to velcro them on really good, but for the most part they seem to work. Yesterday I ran out with him quick to potty and he decided he wanted to walk through the snow. After a couple minutes one of his back paws got too cold and he laid down in the snow...silly dog! So, I've decided the boots are definitely worth the extra effort whenever I take him outside. |
Thanks for the post. I've been wondering the same about boots myself. Let me know if you find anything that works for you. |
The boots do work if they will wear them. I picked up the paw protector cream from Walmart today to condition their paws and for use before their walks. I don;t know if this will work as this is my first winter with my babies. They walked just fine today and it was -2 degrees here. |

When I lived in Alaska I tried boots on my bigger Border Collie/Lab and she always seemed to loose one no matter how snug the velcro was, so when you are out and if its dark keep a close eye on those little things! It is funny to watch them walk/prance in them because they are trying to get them off or something. :animal37 |
