| Question for those of you who let your baby sleep with you on your bed. I have been allowing my love, Shadow sleep with my husband and I on our bed. Here's the deal: I kind of feel it is unsanitary because I take him out everyday (more than once per day obviously) to the street to take care of his business.. he walks all over and steps on all sort of weird things . Even though I clean his feet every night I was wondering what your routine was with your doggie before you take him with you to your bed. Thanks! |

| Three of my dogs sleep with me. I just tell them let's go to bed. I don't worry about them being dirty unless they have gotten into something or their butt is dirty, then I wash them off.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I look at it like this: Our sheets get changed weekly, and the dogs get bathed weekly in the summer, bi-weekly in the winter. I dry them off when they are wet, and wipe them with baby wipes when certain areas need freshening up. It isn't practical to bathe them every day, besides it would be bad for their coats (I'm not implying you do this) It might not be the most sanitary thing in the world to let your dogs sleep with you, but it won't kill you, either. I think it is just one of those little trade-offs dog owners accept. I don't think bad of the people who DON'T allow their dogs to sleep with them, like I have mentioned before, I wish I hadn't of started it..for reasons other than cleanliness I do have a problem with the people who keep their dogs in pens 24/7, or don't allow them in certain rooms (when a dog just wants to be with you)..to me it defeats the purpose of HAVING a pet I worry more about keeping my countertops/cooking areas sanitized...proven ways we can catch nasty things, like salmonella. |

| I have a Shadow, too. I toss him on up there as well. Gabby can get up there by herself. he can't but he sure will jump off and scare me every time! Then he barks, and I put him right back up there. we do this the whole time I try to sleep. lol

| It seems our Abigail is getting more attached to us as time goes by and is beginning to cry to come to bed with us after having her almost three months. The problem is that none of us, including Abby, sleep well and when I get up the first time to go to the bathroom during the night, she ends up going and getting in her bed. However, it seems that she wants to start out with us. Anyone else have this situation? |

| We have more of a routine after we come in from going out. She gets baby-wiped down-- starting with her face then her legs/feet and the butt comes last. I don't worry about the cleanliness aspect of it too much. The bed gets changed weekly and she gets a bath weekly as well. And I'm one of those people who goes to bed with the "dirt of the day on them" unless I take a rare bath because I shower in the morning and not at night. |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | You too? Our bed is VERY high, but Cooper can jump off and on just fine. Baxter will cry to get on the bed, but when I try to pick him up, he will run under the bed, and over to his Dad--it is his little evil game. Dad will be sleeping, so I try to call him back, but he won't let anyone but Dad lift him in to bed. So, I have to wake husband up...or listen to Baxter cry. I think he feels more secure because I have kid-sized hands, and my husbands are like ball gloves LOL. These are the most stubborn dogs I have EVER encountered. |

| My girls use pee pads. I wash their feet if needed. They get baths every 2-4 weeks. I just put their nighties on them and that is their cue, they run upstairs and go to bed.

| I never really thought about it being unsanitary....Teddi gets a bath every Friday or Saturday and she only goes on a walk once a day in the morning and she is inside the rest of the day so I don't think she ever gets that dirty.

| Meh... as long as they didn't roll in poop or dead animals, a little dirt never hurt anyone! I just bring 'em on in with me!
