8 pounds each and I use A breakaway collar in the house, it only has an ID tag on it and the tag has my name, two phone numbers and their AVID ID No and City License No. I keep a full set of all their tags on their halters that we use when we leave the house, the boys are also microchipped. The collars were very reasonable and it cost me $8 a piece to have all that info put on a single tag for each. Very well worth it. IMHO. |
The only time Lacy and Cruz have their collars on is when we go for a walk, or when they go out with me!! |

I Am New To This Forum And Have Found That When I Put A Collar On Fendi, All She Did Was Chew It Off Within Minutes. I Say It Is A No Go :d |

Another suggestion the other site had was little nylon cases to hold dog tags, regardless of what kind of collar you use. By the time you get a city license, a name tag and a vet tag, that's a lot of metal jangling around that could get caught in something. That makes sense, but I haven't been able to find one. |
I will try a cat collar on Fendi, maybe she will not chew it off. I never thought about that. Very good advice Fendi's Mom |
I leave Heidi's harness on all the time. I prefer a harness to a collar because I read that it's easy for yorkies to have collapsed tracheas from pulling on a collar. So I went with a harness, so that the pressure will be distributed elsewhere. She didn't like it the first week or so, but she got used to it really fast. I have a tag with our phone number on it, because I'm really paranoid about her running away. I have NEVER left her outside without me watching her. I also never let her off the leash if we are out anywhere, even in the back yard. I am overly cautious probably, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. We live in town, and have lost a few babies (dogs and cats) to the main road below our house. |

The little plastic 'snap thingy' on the breakaway holds just fine for him. After a couple of month's use (it's adjustable) it still takes a firm tug to releases it. Dub doesn't fight a collar though. After bath time I just shake it and when he hears the jingle he comes running so I can put it back on him. I like being able to hear where he is all the time, so I've gotten accustomed to the sound. Now I notice when I CAN'T hear him. |
