Since I don't live that far away I'm hoping I can come up during the day and meet everyone and their furbabies , but dh and I have been talking about moving , so I may not be close by then :( I really hope I am , It would be fun to put faces to the names :D

For those staying for Sunday's fun - when are you planning to leave Sunday night or Monday or later?

I found a half-way decent flight price - but I'm torn between leaving Sunday late - which of course still means being at the airport by like 5:30pm.-6pm

Is anyone staying later on Sunday or Monday - but you're roomie isn't?? I believe my roommate is leaving Sunday & really hate to pay a ton more for just a place to sleep on Sunday night.

Airfare actually dropped from 400 to 250 for me...but July is still far away...and no telling what is going to happen between now and then...and with Yoshi still missing I dunno if I could even do this meetup..but I am still searching and comparing prices in case I am able too.

As far as I understood it, Sunday was a day where everyone says good bye and if people want to stay and sightsee they can, if they want to leave, they can do that too. I will tell you, the sights in D.C. are really cool (that is, if you don't live here already lol). I've lived near D.C. for 12 years and I still haven't seen all of it.

Wow - are you flying out of Wichita for 250? Out of Des Moines it is still about $330 - that's down from $450 and up. Which a lot of the flights still are. I didn't check KC this time around.

I was in DC 2 summers ago, and 3 yrs ago this mth. -- both times a lot of sightseeing - but there is so much to do & see in DC I would welcome another day especially if it's not raining with the dogs in tow. I would like to stay if others are staying and enjoying the sites. I could live in Alexandria in a heartbeat if it didn't cost so much to live there :rolleyes:

yes that is out of Wichita...it drop from $400 back a few months ago to $250 and that is for Thurs to Sun .. and it would cost $240 to stay till Mon. Which I don't mind...hehe...$10 cheaper for another day...but then that means another almost $200 for another night at the hotel.

also have you signed up at Cheap Flights, Airfare, Airline Tickets, Cheap Travel it could give you a prediction of future price of the airfare if they are tracking your airport which mine is not...but they do send you emails when airfare does drop from your criteria...that is how i found out it drop in price...hehe

I don't know what to do today. I already booked another flight though today -- $29 each way :D down to Sarasota at the end of this month. The dogs will cost more than me! My mom said I should have just asked to buy seats for the dogs :aimeeyork

The worst part about flying into DC is my seat & then add in the dogs. So when I was looking at $500 seats, it didn't look too appealing

Most airlines say 1 dog per bag - NWA lets 2 go if they are related -- well of course mine are related ;) - they are both my furbabies

So it is $100 each way for the bag in the cabin. I think all airlines charge this much now. My 2 together weigh just 8 lbs - so they do ok in the bag together. I know flying for some people means not being able to bring all their dogs. Some people I think will make that chice for the meetup, but others will drive because of it. I'd drive maybe - but I don't know of anyone driving from the midwest

wow other airline only allow 1 per bag? i was hoping to be able to bring at least 2...but right now aa and delta are the only 2 airline offering the flights at 250...

well airfare went back up to 340...i was hoping to get an answer about what time the cruise was on Thursday...and what day and time people were leaving so i could book my ticket at 250 but now replies so now i have to wait again to see if they airfare will drop...and hopefully by then i have an answer to my questions.

I didn't want to come to late on thursday so need to know what time the cruise is so i see what my options are.

And would like know how many are staying Sunday night and leaving Monday? Or what time everyone is leaving on Sunday? Thanks,

I haven't checked fares today - but they usually go up over the weekend - it's the airlines way of getting more moeny when people have time to buy on the weekends. I wonder if a travel agent could get a bunch of us that haven't booked flights a deal even though we are not all flying from the same city? Since we are all going the same place maybe we could get a discount -- my parents have a good family friend who has ran an agency forever & she specializes in group travel. I'll contact her on Monday & see if she can offer guidance or help.

I was just thinking of starting a different thread to address the extended stay question - because other people don't seem to be coming back here to read this thread :confused:

I am planning to fly in either Wed. night (if a friend of mine will let me come with my dogs & stay with her that night, she travels a lot & has a cat, so I don't know if she will want me) Otherwise, I found a flight that would get me there at around 10:45 - so by the time I get luggage & get to the hotel it could easily be noon -- I'm just hoping that isn't too late to join in the festivitieis. Then the latest flight I found out on the same airline would let me leave on Sunday at like 7:30 pm. I might do that if people want to go hang out somewhere in DC or somewhere that day - been dealing with luggage will also be an issue. Because if you leave it at the hotel, then go into DC - then you'll have to include time to get back to the hotel, then to the airport. I would even leave on Monday night if people are going to hang around.

My Hubby and I are coming on thurs by noon and we are staying until Monday..:D
