Finally, I get him.....
 
Tomorrow is the BIG DAY and I am driving to San Francisco to pick up my new puppy that I have been waiting for....he was supposed to come on Saturday but threw up 3 times in the car on the way to the airport. Poor lil guy...all of his breakfast had come up and therefore we didn't think it best to have him board his flight from MI to CA. So tomorrow, I get him FINALLY.:cheer::cheer::cheer:Woo Hoo!! Derby and I are so super excited. We will be driving about 3 - 3 1/2 hrs to SF & his flight is scheduled to land at 2:15pm.

Please give me any advice, wisdom, supplies I should take, anything you can share with me to make me better prepared to make his arrival as easy of a transition as possible for him.

So far, this is what I am taking in my car with me.....Derby (big brother), blanket, water, paper towels, baby wipes, harness, leash, puppy cal (like nutrical), food, treats, and a camera. Any other recommendations????

Sounds like you have everything you will need! You are going to keep him in his travel crate on the way home, I hope (after he has has some time out of it, before the ride home)? Good luck, and have fun!

Do you mean for his safety or just for him to feel save in his little den?

Just what I was thinking. There is no way I could concentrate on driving with a new little baby sitting in the car. Even in his little carrier..I would be sticking my fingers in it and loving on that sweet little baby. :) But that's me.

Congratulations you guys.. Your baby is on it's way.

Thanks for all of the well wishes. I won't be sleeping much tonight. Too excited and a bit scared about having two and them keeping me up at night but I'm sure it will be wonderful.:aimeeyork:aimeeyork

My Suzi vomits when she is in the car... Mostly they get very anxious and scared... You might wat to bring some towels for that, just in case he gets sick on the way home. :aimeeyork
I am excited for you ! You will love your knew baby sooooo much:D How old is the little guy? Where are you getting him from? :congrats: :D

I was going to suggest regular towels too!
Camden gets car sick. She threw up 4 times when we brought her home and that was like 1hr 15min away.

I am making my list also. I pick up my baby Friday on the way home from vacation with all the kids. We will have a 10 hour drive after picking her up. Your list looks very similar to mine. I added one or two things to mine based on yours. What is the peroxide for? I also have some sweet potato baby food on mine. (I was told it was for calming their stomach & loose stools from the nerves during and before traveling.) In my case, since I'm picking her up directly, I also have 2 gallons of the water she's been drinking up till now so I can do a slow switch and hopefully avoid some of the runny stools. I think that is it that I thought of not on your list.

Paulette, our little Bear is on his way!! Can't stop thinking about him and praying he makes it safe. It was the hardest saying goodbye at the airport. Lots of tears after they took him away. I so hope he doesn't get sick on the plane. We so loved having him and his brothers and sisters. They were a fun litter!! I know he will be so loved by you and his new big brother Derby. That sure helps when our hearts are missing him so already. Can't wait to hear from you that you have him safely in your arms. Kiss him for me lots!!!! I sent lots of kisses with him and so did his brothers Eli and Peyton!!! We will surely miss you our little Bear Too!!!! It just won't be the same without his sweet little face in the morning looking up at me!!

Breeding can be a very rewarding and heartbreaking experience. It is very rewarding as a breeder to find a wonderful forever home for your babies that you love so much and to see them grow up loved and happy. I have always said that the day it doesn't break my heart to see one go is the day I will no longer choose to breed!

We're Back!
 
Puppy & Derby & I are all home safe & sound. It was a long day but especially for our cross-country traveler. He did very well with the flight and arrived ready to be loved and ready to eat. He is an absolute doll and he is very curious about everything....taking in all the smells. He is adjusting to his new big brother with complete ease as is the reverse. Shari did a wonderful job preparing him for the flight and giving him lots of attention because he was sure wanting it when he got to us. I will do my best to post some pics tomorrow when I find a free moment at the office. Thank you all for thinking of us and for all of the positive energy your put out there....IT WORKED!!!:):aimeeyork:aimeeyork

I am excited I am working on getting his brother they are adoreable. Give him hugs and kisses for me. Tell him we'll have to send pictures to each other from his brother who is going to Indiana.
