| info on yorkies I am planning on getting a puppy at the end of August beginning of September. I am looking at the yorkshire terrier breed.* My husband and I work and I will be needing to crate a puppy. I am willing spend the time to training and groom a puppy. I want a small dog because I want the mobility of taking a dog with me. We are home bodies and relax in the evening watching tv. Please tell me if this is dog that will adjust to cuddling in the evening or be bouncing off the walls.* When I read information everything says they are high energy dogs.* |

| The yorkies are usually a higher energy dog, but the dog should be able to "relax" with you. They make wonderful pets. At the YT meet-up, most of the time you could not tell there were 30+ dogs in the banquet room. The only time it was chaotic was when one of the speaker's dogs (yorkie too) went ballistic. Then the other dogs got to barking back at him. Even my Biewers (See Avatar), which are suppose to be a bit more mellow than the standard yorkie, can get going at thunder, or dogs on the TV, or someone coming to the house. |

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | it is not nice to keep a dog crated all day.. any dog.. they can be contained in a small room with gates.. yorkies are chewers and diggers, think of what is best for the dog.. the crate is ok for a few hours at most. in my opinion..

| They are rambuncious when they are young but calm ass they get older. They are lovable and cuddly and perfect for homebodies because they are very dependent. The down side of them is they are usually yappy but in time you can teach them not to bark so much. Good luck

| Hi I'm a new yorkie mommy and I would suggest an x-pen instead of a crate. That way the puppy can run around and have more room to stretch their legs. It's what I am training Bella to do when I am in class. I was scared to death she would hate it, but she likes her x pen. Another suggestion I would have is to see if you have any friends that have yorkies. Try their puppy out and talk to them. Despite breed, each dog is unique in their own way and it may not like being left alone all day or want to cuddle. Just a suggestion Either way I hope you find the perfect puppy for you and your husband. |

| Mine both have normal energy level during the day and at night they settle in as if someone took the batteries out! Crash! I think they are the perfect breed! Small, easy to take most anywhere, small poops, small amout of food, so easy to feed the best. I love them and probably would only have yorkies from here on in! Good luck in your decision and welcome! This is the place to have questions answered.

| Your post sounds exactly like my situation when I was looking for a dog. Hubby and I both work - we're both homebodies in the evenings and I wanted a small dog to "live" with us and to run errands around town with. I chose a yorkie but received a family member. Bailey is adored by everyone in our family (adult kids). Like you, I was concerned about keeping her crated all day. But after talking to other co-workers who have pets - decided that we could do it too. We keep Bailey safe in a ex-pen 8 hrs a day 4 days a week. Its a routine that she is familiar with - and routines are important. I read that yorkies are hard to house train and can be stubborn. But Bailey was house broke in two months, doesn't bite, doesn't bark, doesn't chew - and is very obedient. She is absolutely PERFECT - she loves to cuddle and has plenty of personallity to enjoy. Not to mention - she's the cuttest thing on earth!!! So, of course, I think everyone should have a yorkie!! Before we got Bailey - I bought "Yorkshire Terriers for Dummies" - and "House Training for Dummies" - along with few other yorkie books (which pretty much repeated the first two books). Good luck and feel free to pm me if you have any more questions!!!!

Senior Yorkie Talker | Good Luck in your search, I just wanted to add to remember that there is no such thing as a teacup, pocket, micro, yorkie.

| I would recommend a Yorkie. I have two of them and they make wonderful lap dogs. They do however have alot of energy but when I sit down to relax they are right there with me. And they love cuddling up with me in bed every night. I have used a crate for them but it was only for several hours a day until someone was awake in my house. They seemed to do fine with it. Now that they are older I leave them out. As for being chewers I have always provided them something to chew on. They are stubborn about housebreaking so beware of that. Not all are hard to break but just beware in case they dont want to go outside to relieve themselves. |

Yorkie Yakker | Our yorkie gets hyped up in the evenings. But when she was little we would play with her alot at night after our kids went to sleep, so that is what she is used to. She does tend to chew on stuff that she isn't supposed to, even when her chew toys are readily available. The underside of our bed has been a favorite to her. But I would recommend not crating her all of the time. Pick a room that has hardwood or tile and gate your pup off in there. No dog should be crated all day. Oh, and our daisy was extremely easy to housetrain. The only problem we had was when we left her with someone that said they would work with her while on vacation and didn't. When we got home and got back into the swing of things, it only took about a week to get her completely back to doing her business outside. Good luck in your search. | I would recommend a yorkie. Do some more research on the breed though. And if you do decided to get one, get it from a reputable breeder. You can ask him to help you pick one that is a little more relaxed and laid back. |
