| when reading these post I can agree with what everyone is saying. Being a breeder is hard work and so much time, love and money goes into breeding. I, like im sure many of the members had to save money for their puppy. Yorkies are expensive, theres no doubt about that, when I was looking I did ask someone if they were willing to take a little less than what they were asking, I dont think that makes me a bad person or owner. It does suck to want to add a furbaby to your family and not be able to because of how much they cost. when I was telling my brother who lives in Iowa how much I paid for Max he said WHAT! I could get you a yorkie for 400 bucks out here...no papers, no pics of the parents, isnt coming from a loving home...NO THANKS! all those things bring the price of a puppy up but I would say its worth it. I actually answered an ad today and the man says he gets his pups from Ireland, 750 for a "teacup". as much as I want a little girl I said no thanks!

| I love the people that call and ask:1) Do you have yorkies? duh, what does the add say? 2) How much ae they? duh, what does the add say? 3) How big are they? 4) Will you take less? usually the price they want to pay is over half less than the price. they havnt even seen the pups yet!!!!!!!!!!! I just hang up. |

It has to be extenuating circumstances...and of course I want to make sure that if someone buys a puppy from me...that they will be able to AFFORD the food, vet bills, and anything else the pup will need. SOMETIMES asking to bring the price down makes me doubt they can afford one in the first place. HOWEVER, there are people out there would be willing to go to the ends of the earth for their furbabies...even if they don't have a lot of extra money to spend...and those are the people I would be willing to deal with. It also helps if they have other yorkies (preferably that they've had more than a year) so that I know they won't just dispose of the puppy when they get tired of it or can't afford it. I also have something in my contract that if they EVER decide to sell the dog, it MUST be returned to me and I will buy him/her back for a reasonable price. | |

| People always try to barter at yard/garage sales, that's just the way it goes. I don't see anything wrong with it. How old was the puppy you took to PetSmart with you? Just curious.

| It is really hard with yorkies because alot has to do with where you live... for example I am in CA everything is overpriced... It's unbelieveable to hear that people get them or like 400- 600 buck somewhere else for still good quality yorkies......I would do anything... anything for my Toby and always like to keep a stash in case of any emergency... but find it to be a really big project to pay thousands of dollars. I don't think that makes me a bad owner... that just means I'm a tad lower on the income bracket ...LOL.

| Just wanted to thank everyone for their understanding responses. Didn't want anyone to think I was just a cheap lady looking to get a puppy for free. I have been researching dogs for quite awhile and have already begun shopping for a puppy so that we have everything he/she needs when they get "home". I have also been researching the pet insurance. Is there a thread on here on that? I will search on that too. I haven't purchased food yet, simply because I want to get whatever the breeder recommends. Thanks again for all the help, especially the break down and difference between raising a toy dog pup as opposed to a larger breed, I honestly learned alot from that & give all of you breeders alot of credit for what you do. It must be like having a "litter" of infants in the house! |

| OH lord no!! I think there's too much drama in these threads sometimes as it is...I wouldn't personally attack ANYONE...I was just elaborating on the subject!!! And there's nothing wrong with trying to get a price down a little...I did it on Sophie and my sister's dog Chloe!! It all just depends!! |
