Hello everybody I have a 12 week old yorkie who is 3 pounds even I want to know about how big will she be full grown....oh and I dont understand how to calculate it on that chart....Thanks

I think the general rule of thumb is to double the 12 week weight to get an idea of the adult weight, so Buttercup would be about 6 pounds which I think is a nice size... :)

Around 6 lbs but you can't guarantee anything. I have one that was 3 lbs at 8 weeks, and now at 9 months is only 5.5 lbs. Then I have another who only 1 lb at 8 weeks and is 5 lbs at 1 1/2 years old.

Lacy was slightly over 3lbs at 12 weeks of age. She is now 7.5lbs

My vet told me to take Riley's weight at 4 months which was 4 lbs 7 oz and double it...so he will be around 9 pounds most likely...the breeder had guessed him to be around 5 so I guess she may have been wrong...thats ok though because I don't mind a dog a little bigger...easier to catch! :D

Six pounds like a good guess to me. Piper's 6 lbs. and he's just right.

The general rule is triple the weight at 8 weeks, double the weight at 12 weeks. But, as a few others have said...it is not always accuracte. At 12 weeks of age my gracie was just under 3 lbs, now at one year old she is just 3lbs 4oz. :confused: and I should say she is healthy and round, her bone structure just didn't get much bigger. :p

Here is a pic of her back then and now...you can see her "size" didn't change much...

For example, MyFairLacy's weight was just over 3lbs., my girl Gracie was just under 3lbs. and their adult weight is verry different from eachothers, 7 1/2lbs compared to 3 1/4 lbs. I should also say that I used the double the weight at 12 weeks mehod, to choose my Gracie and did not get what I had expected. But I love her just as much :p

Can anyone tell me what is the best way to weigh my yorkie, ive put her on digi scales and it doesnt move........

You need to make sure the digital scale weighs accurately under 5lbs, I use a food scale. Or you can stand on a scale and weigh yourself and then hold your baby on the scale with you and weigh again, then subtract your weight from your combined weight for the difference (not exact weight).

I agree, I think your pup will be about 6 lbs. My pup is 2 lbs at 8 weeks old, so I'm also guessing he will be about 6 lbs.

Try to find something that weighs approximately 7 lbs and carry it around for a bit. It might give you a good idea of how heavy he will be, which is still quite bearable compared to a larger-sized dog.

Also, having a Yorkie weigh between 4-7 lbs is a good advantage compared to much smaller ones because they aren't as susceptible to genetic diseases. But I agree with everyone here - you'll most likely have a 6 lbs baby. =) Congrats!

Chloe was around 2.2 pounds at 8 weeks, 3 pounds at 12 weeks, and then weighed 5.4 pounds at 4 months. She is now 5 months old and I have no idea how much she weighs,maybe 6 pounds, but she keeps getting taller and longer as each day goes by.

Chloe was twice as big as a chichuaua (spelling?) in her training class, and they weighed the same amount. Yesterday we met a Scottish Terrier on the street and my 5 month baby was bigger than the full grown Scottie.

So...weight sometimes doesn't really matter it's more about the bone structure.

I think they all grow at different rates. Mine and my friend's puppy were the same size at 8 weeks. Now mine is 4 pounds and her is 10 pounds. The breeder where I bought her said 5 to 6 pounds at maturity the vet on her first visit said 8, 9 or maybe 10. I think the breeder is a good source since they know the parents history.

I have found that most of my puppies have almost exactly doubled their 12 week weight! Of course my frame of reference is only about 20dogs... but still.... seems accurate as you can get.... feeding makes a difference... table scraps will make a dog fat!
