I am so glad your boy is doing fine, that had to have been terrifiying:eek: I am sure the vet didn't notice your appearance at all ( of course the vet techs probably had a good laugh;) Just kidding, I would have done the same thing. Hope tomorrow is even better for you than today.:) :) |
I am soooo glad Sugar is doing ok. I know how out of it your were freak accidents can occur. I know your daughter was upset too another happy ending. :yorkiesar |
What a fright! i'm so glad everything is ok now! |
I'm so glad he's OK. Milo sends him a wet kiss. |
Thanks everyone. We had a long night because I was up making sure he was breathing all night. He still isn't 100% yet- still acting a little too tired but personality wise he's back to being my sweet little Sugar. The only thing I could get him to eat last night was a little bit of green beans at around 6:00. He was fine until I went to bed at 1:30 (I was so paranoid to go to sleep) but this morning I saw that at some point in the night he had thrown up all of the green beans. He wouldn't touch his food this morning. I'm trying to figure out something soothing or bland to feed him. I'm thinking about trying some canned pumpkin- does that sound good or any other suggestions? He's never had pumpkin but I know in some countries it is fed to just weaned puppies so I figure it must be an easily digestible food. |
LOL, I'm going to be silly and bump my thread after only 30 minutes. Sorry, I'm about to leave for the grocery and I feel like I kind of buried my own thread my responding to other threads. Any thoughts on the pumpkin? |
Im glad hes ok. I know that feeling, Dakota got a concussion. Poor baby give him extra TLC, which looks like you are def doing:) |
The pumpkin would be fine. You could also try chicken noodle soup or cottage cheese |
Let us know about Sugar. I have been thinking about him too. Hope he can keep some food down. is he drinking? |
1 Attachment(s) Oh my, I have been so busy I haven't been on much this past week and missed this. I would have been half crazy like you must have been too. It sounds like he is better but I noticed one of the last posts asked if he was able to keep food down?? and drink?? Hope that little guy is ok. Hugs, Joan |
Hope you have success with the pumpkin. Let us know how it goes. Feel better Sugar!! :getwell: |
Well I went to our little Wild Oats market and they didn't have canned pumpkin. I got organic babyfood sweet potatoes and also bananas. I think I'll go try the sweet potatoes. He drank a lot of water yesterday in the car on the way home from the vet and a little last night. I haven't seen him drink any today but if I give him some from a glass he'll probably drink some. He did pee and poop this morning and it was normal. |
The pee and poop is a really good sign. |
Wishing Sugar a full and speedy recovery. :getwell: |

I spoke too soon.:( The poo in the litter box this morning was normal but I just snuck him into my bedroom to feed him the sweet potatoes without torturing the other dogs and there was a little diarrhea in there. He loved the sweet potatoes. I only let him have 1 or 2 Tbs to test it but he would have gladly eaten the whole jar so his appetite seems fine. I guess he just wasn't ready for dog food this morning. He wouldn't take any water but my husband said he drank some while I was at the store. If he continues to keep the sweet potatoes down I think I'll feed all 3 some chicken and peas for dinner. I'm planning to start home cooking and was just waiting for a book I ordered to come in but I'm sure I'm safe just giving them chicken and veggies for a few days and he'll eat it a lot better than his dog food. |
OH LORD.....Nikki I am so sorry to hear about this. YIKES...poor you, poor Sugar and POOR Lauren I hope she does not blame herself. She is so sweet and I am sure feels horrible. Give her a hug for me and a kiss for Sugar too. I wish you would have called me girl - you know I would have done anything you needed like go to the store for you or even bring over some homecooked meals for him from a batch I made Murphy and Mia. I have just been so busy this weekend with the Holidays I have not been on at all. Sorry, but so happy to hear Sugar is okay. MY lord that must have been so scary. I remember I dropped Murphy when I first got him and it was the scariest thing I have even done. He was screaming and crying and I was a mess too so I know what you felt like. How is he today? |

Oh hey what book did you order? You know I have the Doctor P one right? You can always borrow it if need be. :Let me know what you are doing and learning for the home cooking I think by sharing we can really learn more. ;) |
Oh Nikki! I just found this thread! How scary for you that this happened to Sugar. :(How has he been today? Is he keeping his food down? Big hugs, Lauren:) |

That's the book I ordered. I didn't know you had started cooking. That's awesome! He ate chicken and peas mixed with the leftover sweet potato baby food for dinner and breakfast and kept it down.:cheer:[/QUOTE] YUP....I have been homecooking for them for about 1 month now. So far it has gone pretty well. I thought we discussed this last time Chris and I were over - hee, hee!!! :p We will have to get together soon to see what tips and recipes we can trade. Have you found all the supplemental stuff yet? I found all of it from Wild Oats but have not found the Kelp powder. I was just about to order all that this weekend but got busy so need to do it this week. Let me know if you found it around town. :D |
Glad he's ok. I bet your daughter was really upset. |

I started mixing human food with dog food Thursday and yesterday was their first full day of all home cooked. I figured I couldn't mess up to badly in the few days it would take for the book to arrive. I'm sure I'll have a million questions so I'm glad you're a month ahead. Susan, you're right, my daughter almost had a heart attack. She said she though he had broken his neck at first because he was laying on his back with his head at such a funny angle. I don't know how she would have handled feeling responsible if anything had happened to him so that's one more reason to thank God he is okay. |
Oh Nikki I'm so glad that he still doing fine:aimeeyork |
