Great steps there Mike! I now know what my next project shall be! :) |
Okay, MikeM has inspired me. Well, at least to the point of buying the wood. :) And we got small pieces for the steps. We might make it with open air space in between the steps, not quite sure yet. Hopefully it'll be done within a week or two. But knowing me... We have a very high up bed, like 2.5 ft up off the ground probably. What we do now is have a plush chair Yoda jumps up onto, then from there he jumps on the bed. Chair is about sofa height (1.5 ft or so off the ground). We were so proud of Yoda when he learned to jump down all by himself! :) |
Awesome! After they are done, take a pic and let us know how it went! Here's a simple tip: To avoid cutting, just make the stairs the same width as the wood. This would apply for the stairs Yoda will stand on (horizontal stairs) and the upright stairs he'll never touch. To make it bigger, either buy wider wood, or make it three steps high instead of two, etc. (Jeez, with these "tips" I really do sound like Martha Stewart! hehe) Home depo is good because they sell long pieces of wood that you can just cut once to make each section for the stairs. |
Yes, will do. Well, the steps we got are already precut, perhaps 18 inches wide and just the right size for a step already. We just basically need to do the sides, and then make a nice cushion for the steps like y'all did. For the sides, we got some 3 foot by 3 foot pieces. We can just change your username to MarthaM... :D |
HI, my hubby made stairs for our Furbabys with a toy box inside the steps. The only problem is our older yorkie Dudley, (4 yrs old) still jumps off our high king size bed and our baby, Dinkey (6 months old) uses the stairs. I've tried to get Dudley to stop jumping, but I haven't had much luck.........any advice. I hate him jumping also!!!!! SandyTXn, Dudley and Dinkey |
You could try teaching him with treats. Just lead him up and down the steps with the treat. I have a wooden step stool that a friend made for me. I was trying to use it so Asia could look out the window from her play area. She just chews on it. I don't think Asia knows want a window is for. |
