| He wants something lol, when my guy does that I am usually sitting on the sofa, I'll call him to me and give him belly rubs. Sometimes he wants to play fetch lol so I toss a toy and he'll fetch it. Sometimes he just wants to cuddle.

| Is he cold? Maybe a sweater is needed, or cuddles or their favorite, Play Time.

| Gidget usually either wants to go outside to potty or she wants to get in my lap and take a nap. |

| At nearly two, Fabian has just started whining within the past month or so. Typically when he wants more attention: most usually activity like going outside or playing fetch. Surprisingly not related to pee breaks. |

| First thing, get a vet check, including blood work, ear, fecal/urine testing for critters. Whining could be a sign he's uncomfortable or in pain. If he gets a clean bill of health, enrich his life, give him a job to do learning new skills or hunting treats/toys hidden throughout the house couple times a day w/lots of happy praise when he finds each, increase walks, play with mommie/daddy time or play date at local pet store. Serve his meals in forage toys where he has to work to eat - dogs LOVE the concept. Pile small teddy bears or big stuffed animals or pillows on the floor for him to climb on and be sure you're close by to be sure he doesn't fall off. If he's not sick he's likely bored to tears and needs his life enriched with a job, interactive fun time.

| Thank you all I really appreciate all the wonderful responses. I will use the advice to help my lill man happy. We did just recently relocate from a house in the country to apartment living, on the second floor, so now we go for controlled walks with a leash verses running around in the yard. So all of your ideas are considered. Thank you all. Oh btw, he will be 2yo ...in a fre days andhe has a girlfriend. She goes in heat...in April so wish it's luck, it will be our first time. ...im excited. ...take care all. |

Once the vet says he's well, give him PLENTY of 'nose' time outdoors. Allowing a dog to scent and smell his outdoors surroundings is like a vacation for them. The energy, sights and scents of the outdoors world their species comes from absolutely speaks to dogs in ways we cannot understand. Their world is primarily scent-oriented and smelling the scents from the paws, urine/feces and presence of other dogs and critters is the most AMAZING experience to them - as they analyze the data(sex, age, health, sexual history and some say travel history) about all the other critters that have visited the area in the recent months. Give the dog plenty of time to smell and spend time around each scent he's interested in so he can fully 'read' and sense the critter(s) who left the scent. Canine experts tell us this is equivalent to surfing the web, traveling the world to humans. The wealth of data the dog can' absorb from the information that scent transmits to him is as important to his life as your cell phone is to yours. Following his scenting his immediate area, a good walk with lots of time to stop and smell time will truly light up his life. Then, enriching his indoors life with new learning/play experiences and especially foraging toys, food 'bowls' should finish the job of showing him how important he is to you. I always take Tibbe for the slow, 'smell'-walk, allowing him to stop at any smell he chooses and smell, pee or poop over each area scent he chooses to stop at as many times as he wants as we are walking away from the house and then get in our exercise, fast-walking and heel-up training on the way back home. After that type of walk, Tibbe comes in the house, gets a long drink of water and takes a lovely, long, dream-enhanced nap after each of those walks - acting totally satisfied and happy with his life and with me. What more could we want for our dogs? https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-p...eive-the-world

| There is one other possibility that has nothing to do with illness, transitioning to new home or boredom. Has your dog been neutered? If not, he could be scenting the other dog(s), male and female, in the area giving him sexual urges he's totally unable to fulfill. I would heartily urge you to have him surgically, safely neutered so he can settle into his adult life much more comfortably - and responsibly, as most true doglovers agree that breeding dogs should be left to the few who know all about genetics, what dogs should NEVER be bred together and breed a pair of physically hardy, health-tested, temperamentally sound dogs for one single reason only - to improve the breed. Everyone says we as a society the world over have frivolously overbred the poor canine to the point of silliness as we kill millions of them yearly in shelters or they are turned out to die all alone on their own so why make more?
