Car booster seat I bought Stormy this car seat. We actually don't have it yet, but are anxiously awaiting it's arrival. So far when I have needed to take her in the car, she has been held (i know... not good; hence the car seat purchase). She doesn't seem to like being in the car at all. She cries and whimpers and it is just so sad! Even when we have brought toys or treats, she wants nothing to do with them. My question is how do I get her to view the car seat as a positive experience once we get it here? I won't want her to come with on rides if she's crying because I don't want to put her (or me) through that. How do I get her to see going "bye-bye" as a good thing? Thanks in advance! |
4 Attachment(s) I purchased the same carseat for my babies. I originally bought it for Ally when she was little, but found it most helpful with my pek. Tara, my pek, always cried in the car and tried to get to me from the passenger seat. She wanted to get in the car, but as soon as she got in, she just cried. When I put Ally and Tara in together, Tara was more managable and didn't cry. Ally had not problem; she loved to look out the window. Now I have Tia, who just turned 7 months. If I only take them to the vet or a place that scares them (groomer), they get nervous when I put them in the car. For instance, when I adopted Tia, she came with giardia, coccidia, and ringworm, so we ended up going to the vet every two to three weeks. They knew if they got in the car, they were going there. So, I think if you take her places, she will get used to 'fun with mommy' rides and will love to go. Mine know the word 'bye bye' and love to get in their seat, but we haven't gone anyplace fun in a long time, so they're still nervous. Recently, we went to get ice cream and the ice cream place gave them doggie ice cream with a milk bone on top. So funny, but they enjoyed it. Stormy will love it because she can see out the window and is at your level and can move from side to side. The third picture below is the attachment so the harness attaches to the seatbelt. |
That's the one we have but I got the medium so both of the fit comfortably in there. they love it. Before they couldn't see out the windows. People in other cars smile and wave when they see them:) |
I just got the medium Snoozer for Jackson. I've started transitioning slow. He's always been allowed to just be free, and he always does a good job at staying in the back, but he also likes to put his top paws on my middle console with his back legs still on the back seat, if that makes sense. Which is so dangerous if we get into an accident (and we did 2 months ago-so lucky he was ok!) so I put the seat in the car, he checked it out, sniffed it, and I let him go at his own pace, I didn't immediately just stick him in the seat and buckle him in. He laid down in it voluntarily yesterday which was great, so I'll start the buckling in a few days. For now (we just got it a few days ago) he's still remained access to free roam in car but we have not gone far distances. |
