She won't poop on the pee pads! For now I've given up potty training outside, because my little girl has been doing great with the pee pads! No matter where she is she goes straight to that pad and pees, however, she has never pooped on it! She sneaks under the dining table and goes there! Eventually I'd like to move the pads outside, and have her go there, but first I'd like us to do all our business in one spot! How can I convince the little monkey to go on the pad? Sometimes I think she does it because she knows I don't want her to lol the look on her face is priceless! |
Hi, My little Krystal is doing the same thing. :( I would love to know if anyone has cured their "little darling" of the same behavior. Dion |
I have the same problem. She will not poop on the pad but she pees great on it. My neighbor's yorkie does the same thing. |
We also have the same problem and would appreciate any suggestions. |
I have to have 2 pee pads down. My girls will not pee and poop on the same pad. Maybe this will work for you |
I'll give that a try, but I'm afraid she'll just pee on both! She's just a tad bit ornery sometimes, and I don't think she'd differentiate between a pee pad and a poop pad lol. |
Some dogs will not poop and pee in the same spot. My Lady is one of them. I think she just hates soiling her house. She will sneak off to a closet or my guestroom if she gets caught and can't hold it until our walk. You could try putting a separate pad down in a different place to see if that works. |
i have the same problem of molly not pooping on her pad. ironically, she used to poop on the pad and pee on the carpet. now she poops anywhere but always pees on the pad. haha maybe it just takes more reinforcement since they don't go poo as often as they pee? i'm planning on practicing this weekend by taking molly to the pad first thing in the morning and we're not leaving it until she poos on it and gets a treat. ;) |
OMG, Jemma is a real bi&%^, using in kidding terms. In the morning she goes pee. But she'll stand there and I'm thinking, she's waiting for me to turn away. So took a little treat and walked near her pad. I pointed to the paper and said paper. She squated immediately on the paper. She got the treat. Now 10 minutes she comes to me and sits and does that growling mumble throttle in her throat, lol. I get up and follow her. Ahhh the paper, maybe she did poo? No such luck. She did 2 drops for another treat. lololol. A hour later the same thing, 2 drops. Ummm no Jemma this isn't going to work. You'll be a porky. As far as poo? I think Yorkies have a thing about pooing and peeing in the same spot. She only does once in awhile on paper. ONCE IN AWHILE. Not good and frustrating. Especially since my house is entirely carpeting accept for the kitchen and bathroom. She will also pee on the area rug as well. And it's close to the door. No, she's not telling me she has to go out. grrrr, and I stopped giving her treats for 2 drops. lol |
OMG have the same problem with my baby he wont do poo in the pad but he will go pee-pee on it that's to funny i thought i was the only one with this problem lol . |
Poops standing up on hind legs My little girl was peeing on the pee pee pads and pooping right along side, we couldn't figure it out either and then I waited and watched and saw that she stands straight up on her hindlegs leaning her front paws on her carrier to poop, very strange have you ever heard of such a thing? So we moved the pee pee pad right next to her carrier inside the little octagon play pen area we purchased for her, put a scrap of linoleum down on my berber to protect the carpet while I'm away during the day in case she misses, so she has her pee pee pad right next to her crate and it works great! She pees on the pads and then leans on her crate standing on her hind legs and poops and is on the papers. |
Molly is doing the same thing.m she will pee on pads an go on the throw rug for potty. Just thought i didn`t do a very good training with her. I think yorkies are all alike. Thanks goodness for this site. |

well this is nice to know i am not the only one with this problem... she always pee on her pee pad but NEVER EVER poops on it she will poop like away from it. I will try the 2nd pee pad suggestion, i hope that works...I am amazed how many other people have the same issue, it makes me feel better. |
The second pad hasn't worked at all! She acts like she has no idea what it's for, she won't even pee on it! lol She's an oddball. So no one has ever solved this problem? lol. At least IMO, the poop is much easier to pick up off the carpet then the pee. I guess I'll just be grateful, and hopefully we'll be able to do everything outside! |
This is what actually worked when Suzi was a puppy . She did the exact same thing . Than we started placing the poo, w/o touching it/yuck on the pad... Suzi really caught on fast where to poop:) YAY! It did not take long at all for her to poo on her pads after the poo was there ! I guess Yorkies are visual learners! It worked like a charm. Try it a few times, and see if it works for your pups. Also, it is important to have more then one pee pad down. Place it where your puppy is going most of the time . |
My Yorkie is almost a year old and will not poop on his pee pad. He pees on it all the time. I have given up. He will poop outside but will not tell me when he needs to go out, just if I catch him at the right time. I have pretty much given up hope of him ever being totally trained. If anyone has any suggestions, I would love to hear them. I also tried the two pee pads but he just pees on both. |
i can't take to poop and place it on a pad cuz she just wants to eat the poop  |
The same thing happened to me and it still does sometimes. He sleeps on my bed at night which is relatively high up so he can't get off. So when he wakes up he definitely has to pee and usually poop too. I found that this was the best time to train them to go to the right place. Right when I wake up I put him in a little pen with just a pee pad. He goes pee right away, then whines abit, and eventually will go poop Now, during the day he will most of the time go to the pee pad to poop. He still has several accidents (mostly under tables too!), but its getting better. Good luck! :) |
Thanks for all the great advice! Soon we may have to leave her home for almost 8 hours, but only 3 nights a week, and we'll be home with her the rest of the week. I'd really like her to be able to run free during that time, but I don't know how we'll be able to if she keeps having accidents, plus she's been getting into everything lately! Any suggestions? |

pooping on the pad I had that problem also, until i took him to my Moms house and I put 3 pads just incase because I sure didn't want him to go on her floor, she is going through Chemo and all smells bother her!..well I noticed every time he always pooped in the hall way away from everyone, I think he just wanted a little more privacy, he will pee right in front of us because he knows he gets a treat. he actually stood on the pad at my moms for a while the other day while staring at my aunt and she thought he peed and then he went to her for a treat and she gave it to him.so now she says he has learned to lie!.lol he tried it a second time but we check now.......LOL I can't believe how smart they are..................any way now at home I have a pad in the bathroom where he used to sneak off to poop and he goes there all the time now.so you might try that but I don'y think I would want it under the dinning room table.............good luck! ah thank you thank you thank you I thought we were the only ones :) we are really new at this.Dolce has been with us for only about 5 days and I was so close to actually showing him how to pee and poop in the same place (I know that sounds sorta strange but I was thinking about it LOL LOL LOL ) So now I get it ! So far we got him to sit and come and he knows what a ball is....if only he would understand 'toilet' !! we are working on his aim ....keeps missing the paper !!!1 He is only 4 months ...... we should give a break..if only I was as well behaved at 4 months of age lol :) |

Hello :) I'm just curious -why do people use the peepee pads instead of taking them outside? Are they supposed to be easier to train with or is it because of cold tempatures? I'm just wondering ;) |
wellin my case.my little guy was1 lb at 12 weeks and the grass was too high for him and it was so cold in feburary for the tiny little thing......... now he is so good about it, he dosen't have any accidents any more so I'm getting ready to make the transfer to out doors he just turned 6 months and is a whopping 3 lbs.lol |
I have the same problem with Harley. I also put 2 pads down and he still goes under the dining room table to poop. It drives me crazy. |
My Yorkie (Roxie, 3 1/2 months old) seems to have the same problem occasionally. We have 2 pee pads in the apartment. one in the kitchen (where she is kept most of the time) and one one in our living room so that she has a place to go when she is out playing with us. She has got the peeing on the pad down pat - it took a while - but shes got it - she still has a few accidents now and then. She will sometimes poo on the pads as well - but not 100% of the time - and we found that more often than not she was going on the carpet. What i've done now this past week - is when I wake up in the morning we take her out - and she does her business. then we bring her back in and give her some breakfast and play with her for a bit. I then take her for a walk after lunch and she will often pee on during this walk, but not poo. She usually doesn't go poo again till after dinner when we go for another walk - and she usually goes as we finish our walk which is about an hour long. However, tonight she didn't go while we went for our walk, so i brought her in and put her in the kitchen for an hour, and then took her out again, and told her to go "outside" and she did her business. Seems like she's getting the hang of it; and I'm glad shes going poo outside now - it will be alot easier to transfer her to going completely outside and not inside. |
