| When you were a baby...did your mother rub your face in a diaper for 1-2 minutes when you couldnt make it to the potty. Get a crate for the dog and teach your girlfriend how to train her dog. These are not standard dogs. If you cannot refrain from being so aggressive this dog is not for either of you. I am absolutely appaulled by your machismo intent when it comes to the obediance of this dog. As much attention as you think you are giving, its clearly not enough. Either pick up a book and learn about these dogs or start being a little more open minded when asking for advice. Unreal.

| If this guy was looking for insight and advice, he would be taking some constructive critisim. instead he insists that what he is doing is the right thing and he is not going to stop. And i believe his story about irag is nutrue. How can he be in Irag and living in an apartment with his girlfriend and her dog, and have his own place I 200 pound man touching a 3 pound dog in anger is what is unacceptable behavior. No one learns anything out of fear. |

| He was probably there for his assignments, but lives in another country at this time. Maybe Eroupe or the US? Pilots fly in and out, they don't stay in one place for too long.

| I am very plain and direct in my language. You are a HORRIBLE Yorkie owner or part owner. I hope one day you fall face first in to a pile of s**t and see how that feels. There are many ways to train and positive reinforcement and patience WITHOUT punshiment works best but you are so stubborn you do not even want to listen to what other Yorkie owners say. What a cow.

| Gosh, this guy is a piece a work IMO, cat pee is much more potent than dog pee. With the two combined the smell must be just awful. I think it is time to rehome ALL their animals and then shampoo their carpets and furniture. their is no excuse whatsoever for anyone to live in filthy living condions. People like this should never be allowed to own animals! Under no circumstances shoud a little yorkie be trained in this manner. this makes me ill. This man has no idea that he is harming this poor little Yorkie. Then they are leaving him in a crate all day long? OMG, how cruel. Those people are totally messed up. It is not the Yorkie's fault, it is his owners who are. If we YT'ers could only know where these people were located! It takes all kinds doesn't it! this guy has not returned since yesterday either.

| I think that it's great that you want to help your girlfriend out. I think it would be a good idea if you both did some research together on the breed as they are very much different than other dogs. A great resource is even to watch animal planet because they have lots of dog training shows and there are a few different trainers so you can pick and choose your favorites. I believe that if rubbing his nose in the urine/poo is what you feel is best so be it. I am just concerned with the fact that you want him to be scared because the problem with that is it could instill fearful aggression which can cause many issues not only in the relationship between him and you but as well affect his relationship with other people and animals. You can read more about it online but when I received my two year old yorkie, Izzy, she had fearful aggression which caused lots of problems for me! Good luck with your training, its a struggle I know but it pays off to do it! Also, I wanted to say thank you for serving our country & I greatly appreciate it!

| Obviously you haven’t got a clue on what your during and isn’t to bad yr girlfriend doesn’t either. To have a dog scared of you is the dumbness thing I’ve heard, and rubbing it face in its mess for 1-2 minute is even stupider, maybe someone should do the same with you. Leave the poor yorkies alone, maybe if the two of you can handle the poor dear maybe it should be re-home to someone who has the time and loving care for it.

| Donating YT 500 Club Member | My "apologies" to the board if I misunderstood him about Iraq. Wherever he is though, it sounds as though he is in the military serving our country. Why do I think that? Simple. I generally trust people until I'm proven wrong. It seems to make life much more pleasant for me than automatically assuming people are liars. As for him not coming back to the thread... (1) He's probably busy. I doubt that he has the time to stay continuously on the board...OR (2) He's taken all the verbal abuse he plans to stomach after asking for guidance. I am having a great deal of trouble understanding the verbal cruelty of some people to another human being...while at the same time they cry foul at the treatment of a dog. Am I the only one seeing the disparity in this? I cannot imagine a worse teaching method than condemnation. A person asks for help and advice and what is given is condemnation? Exactly how is this supposed to help? Rather than encouraging him to change, the condemnation creates a "circle the wagon" defensive pose which will do nothing but make the person try to prove the effectiveness of the original method...and the dog continues to suffer. My word! There was a real opportunity here for genuine teaching and retraining which would have helped the situation. Instead, the person asking for help was lambasted and condemned...really encourages him to return for further advice, doesn't it? |
