ARE THEY SAFE? Ultrasound remote trainers I was wondering if anyone has used a type of ultrasound remote trainer when dealing with behavior issues with Yorkies? I am really reluctant about them, but at my wits end with aggression with my little guy. |
If you mean shock collars, very few people on YT would say to use them I would guess. There are better ways to train but I do understand that it does get frustrating. Have you thought about hiring a personal trainer that uses painless methods? Some of them are a big help... |
Ultrasound remote trainers These are the high pitched frequency devices and not pain inflicting. I would NEVER EVER even consider the shock methods. We did try two personal trainers without much luck......We need Victoria Stilwell! In the process of sending and application to the network! We won't give up on our little guy as we love him so much. Just need to find what will work to help him. |
How about the Dog Whisperer? I saw a show last evening, likely a rerun, where Cesar effectively corrected agressive behavior in a Yorkie. It's on again at 11 AM EST, & I'm going to watch it again. The Yorkie is really cute, but then again they all are. How old is your Yorkie, and is he neutered? |
I will tune into Cesar for sure. My little guy is two years and two months old and neutered. Thanks for the suggestion! |

What's he doing? |
I just wanted to say i hope you can get some help for him. |
He is very aggressive to strangers, kids and other animals. I cannot tell you how hard my husband and I have been working with him. My next step is that he has a vet appointment in January for Bordetella, and I will consult with him as well. It's heartbreaking for us because we know he must be feeling fear, plus it's embarrassing as we cannot have people over easily. :-( |

We got Wyland at 11 weeks old. He was the only pup in the litter. We have been told that most of his issues stem from being a "singleton". Not having the early socialization of siblings to learn the hierarchy, play biting etc., nor did he have to fight for his mom's attention or food. I did watch The Dog Whisperer this morning and saw the episode of Candy the aggressive Yorkie. I know that I am part of the problem as well as I get tense and uptight when people are around and I am sure that he can sense that with me. It's hard to feel calm when you fear your dog may bite someone......I appreciate everyone's help and support!!! Happy holidays to all! |
