Price of spaying and neutering. I'm in Yorkshire UK, just wondering what price others in the UK have paid for having your male or female neutered or spayed. We are planning on adding a female soon for our gang...plus we'll have Caleb neutered soon. Our vet charges £70 for a neuter, we having asked how much for spaying yet. It's been so long since we've had a young dog...Ishmael is 9 years old, we don't know how the prices have changed. It seems reasonable, as I think it was about £50 for Ishmael. |

Wow, £70? That's cheap! I'm in the north too, in Lancashire, & my vet's surgery charges £150+ for a male neuter & £250+ for a spey, depending in the weight of the dog/ bitch so amount of anaesthetic. So it isn't just "London" prices. I think you must have a very reasonably priced vets there in Yorkshire. One of mine could really do with having her teeth cleaned but when I was in for her booster & happened to mention it, they quoted me a starting price of £375 for a straightforward clean & polish with extra for any extractions. So, after they'd picked me up off the floor.................!!!! :eek::eek: |

I am still deciding whether to neuter Alfie (not considering him for stud, just still considering the pros and cons for health and behaviour, and because the poor baby has already had to cope with a lot) That sounds like a great deal, I couldn't imagine it being less than £150 here in Northern Ireland. I already pay about £70 for his derm consults before meds and tests. |
It does seem we are very lucky here. Caleb was neutered yesterday, I asked them to clip his nails while he was under, they did that free. We do them most weeks, but he hates it. We are getting a female Yorkie so asked the price of a spay for a yorkie and was quoted £120. Mistymillar, it is an important decision isn't. We've always had our dogs spayed. Only you can make the choice for what's right for your little one. Good luck whatever you choose. Caleb has been the one, who seemed the most upset, after the op. It was horrible leaving him behind and he's not a happy boy right now. They gave him a big plastic collar, non of my others had that. I removed that and put him in a newborn bodysuit. Cut and sewed hole for his tail and penis. Put a Velcro-ed band around his tummy in front of the penis hole, so he can't poke around to find the stitches. Also making a cloth e collar, but hope we won't need it. wow meggie, that is expensive. I've no idea what dental costs are here. ...but I'm not so keen to move lol maybe if we do we can kidnap the vet and take her with us. |

We contacted Caleb's breeder and they hope to have a female giving birth in Nov. We've reserved a bitch in that litter, IF she has one. If she doesn't will wait till next year. I've added the 'mums' photo to my photo album. She's a little more silver than that pic of her. Breeder said both parents are standard sized Yorkies, not on the small side. I didn't ask the weights, but will. |
I live on the Isle of Thanet, were about 1 1/2 hours south east of London and the vet prices here to get a yorkie spayed is a lot. I joined the healthy pet club with my vet, which gives a good % off services and offers free dental checks, free vaccines, free check ups, discounts on medicine, ect. for £10 a month and with that my vet said the spaying will cost me £114 and thats with the pain meds included, without the plan it'd be closer to £200!!!! I guess the prices are different where you live and depending on the vet... |
