Oakgate Yorkshire Terriers Yesterday, my husband & I had the pleasure of meeting Kathy Weems, of Oakgate Yorkshire Terriers. We went to her home in Frankfort, IL to look at puppies. First, let me tell you, Kathy is an absolutely lovely lady. And she loves her Yorkies! They're her kids! We were so impressed with the way she interacts with each one of them. They are very well socialized. We were able to sit on the "puppy room" floor and play with a beautiful litter of 5 darling puppies. And the Sire & Dam, as well. We chose the most adorable little female. Kathy is very careful with her puppies. The puppies were 10 weeks old, yesterday, but she is keeping them until the 1st week of November, because she feels they are too tiny to go home yet, and need more time with their Mom. That really impressed us! Their Dam plays with the puppies, as if she were a puppy, herself, and I will admit, I fell in love with her! She is keeping two beautiful boys to Show, but, if anyone is looking for a puppy, she still has another beautiful little boy and a precious little girl, available. But don't wait too long, because someone is going to snap these babies up fast! The Sire and Dam were stunning! Both are Champions. Her home, her puppy room, are immaculate. And each one of her Yorkies, was perfectly groomed. Sheila |
What a wonderful review! After hearing/reading about so many unethical breeders, it really does warm the heart to read such a positive review! Thank you so much for sharing and congrats on your new addition joining your family! |

But Kathy Weems is just an amazing lady! She has the Rothby and Pastoral blood-lines, actively Shows, and oh-so-obviously loves her Yorkies, that I had to post a review. Her Yorkies are just breathtaking, and all of her adults are Champions, with one that she is now Showing to her Championship. Very truthfully, each of the puppies in her litter could be Shown-they are simply gorgeous! Thank you for the congratulations-we are looking forward to the addition of our tiny Cheslea to our family. My husband and I feel blessed-we got her name from the YTCA referral list, and she lives 4 miles from my favorite cousin. Sheila |
Congrats on your new puppy. Kathy is a very nice lady and really cares about the breed. You can't go wrong getting a pup from her. |
Congrats on you upcoming November girl! I'm so excited for yo both and can't wait to see pictures:thumbup: |
Congratulations, so glad you found a breeder you have confidence in and can't wait to see pictures of you newest addition. Also, good for you for visiting the breeders home in person and checking out everything. |
I've seen pictures of Sheila's new girl and she is a beauty! Now, to contain your self until she arrives...that's the hard part! |

I was delighted to find Kathy Weems. I always visit the breeders house. I've always bought my Yorkies from Confirmation Show breeders. I think I was so fortunate, 31 years ago, because a friend, introduced me to my 1st Confirmation Show breeder, so my 1st Yorkie came from him, and I was never willing to settle for less. I learned, the importance of Confirmation breeding. |

Actually, the timing is good-I have 5 more weeks of nerve treatment at the hospital for one of my MS symptoms, and I never would leave a new puppy home, until I was absolutely certain that she felt safe and secure in her new home. Just knowing that she is joining our family is enough. And I have so much respect for Kathy, keeping the puppies until she feels they are ready for their new homes. I know I am getting a healthy, well socialized, healthy puppy. So worth the wait! :) |

I couldn't agree more-Kathy is a lovely lady, and my husband and I could really see that she loves this breed and only breeds for the betterment of the breed. I feel so fortunate to have found her name on the YTCA Referral list. |

That is my sweet little Kia. She will be 14 years old in December. I think she is going to be very happy when we bring the new puppy home. She has been so lost since our sweet Sydney died. Sheila |
It is definitity nice to see a good review |

We see so many heartbreaking stories, about bad breeders, and I wanted to post my experience with Kathy Weems, so people would reliaze the importance of going to a responsible, Confirmation breeder, that stands behind her dogs. I hope to save someone, a heartbreak. Sheila |
You could not have found better. Kathy was mentored by a couple of the top Yorkie show breeders who care about the breed and their dogs very much. And she has carried on their legacy in her dogs who she is very proud of and loves them very much. |

I know that she was very close friends with Roberta Rothenbach, and her death was a tragic loss to the Yorkie Show World. |
I am so happy for you. I have talked to Kathy at dogs shows and she is a very nice person as well as having gorgeous dogs. I know Kia will be happy to have a sister again. It's good to know where to get a quality yorkie if needed. Kia and my Pixie and Roxie are all from the same breeder who has since retired. |
Nice review, beautiful pups...this is what an ethical, reputable breeder looks like...congratulations, can't wait to see more pics! |

I'm sad that Susan retired. I just had Kia's Sires picture out on Saturday, and oh, he was gorgeous! |
