Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | I Think We're In Labor!!!!!! Coming from the Lexie & Diva pregnant thread This morning Lexie woke me up whining & restless. Thought it was just new happenings normal for the last week. That was at 5:30ish a.m. It is now almost 9am and I think she is in the first stage of labor. She pretty much won't leave her spot between the couch and recliner, is nesting, cleaning herself, shivering some, & whining a little. I wasn't going to start taking her temperature until tomorrow, but with all that's going on I took it a little while ago and it was 99.5. I'll keep you posted...stay with me, I want all the help I can get!

| you need to get her in a whelping box so she doesn't have them where she is. She sounds as if it won't be long. Lay your hand on her side or the bottom of her tummy and see if you can feel any slight contractions. Not the big ones but itty bitty ones like her stomach is cramping. |

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | Well, so much for I think we're in labor.....we are having puppies! So far 2 have been born: a girl first at 9:06, and then a boy just about 15 minutes later at about 9:22. Holy moley! Can't believe it's happening so quickley much less today; a week early. The only thing I'm unsure about is if the placentas have come out...it almost seems that she's eating them as they come out. It'a all going to fast it's hard to work with the pups and watch mom at the same time. Stay tuned...........

| Try to keep track of placentas. It is VERY important that you know one came out with each pup. I would make sure when the cord is cut, that you have the placenta before she eats it. CONGRATULATIONS! |

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | I know how important that is, but I really don't know that I've SEEN any...or at least not a whole one. If I don't see as many placentas as we have puppies when we are through, I'll be taking her in to be checked. She sure did cry on the first one, it came butt first and the head took a tiny bit of time so I helped. The boy came second and he slipped right out. With both, I was paranoid of her biting the cord to close so I held onto it near the puppy while she chewed and licked. But with her head right there I just can't tell for sure about a placenta. I'll have her checked out though when we are through.

| Oh my gosh how exciting for you and momma dog, looks like that whelping box was her choice (I've already got mine ready and Princess is exploring it but no doubt she will choose some obscure place to have her litter)! Two so far! Momma looks a little tired but beautiful and those little darlings look hungry! That must have been the fastest labor on record! I can't wait to hear more about this!
