| My female wants nothing to do with her pup! My female gave birth yesterday! She had only one male. However, she wants nothing to do with him. I think she is scared of him. She will let him nurse if I put him on her. There is just know signs of mothering from her. Any advice on getting her interested in her pup? |

Just keep trying, and supplement her with calcium, like cottage cheese, yogurt, etc. It should kick in soon. Keep putting him on her to nurse.

| Unfortunately some females don't have that mother instinct. But just keep doing what your doing and make sure to keep him warm with a heating pad under the blanket. Maybe she will come around. She didn't have a C-section, did she?

| Thank you for all your great advice. She did not have a C-section. I have great news! We kept Bren (the Mom) with the puppy(we named him Billy) in a small crate all last night. (By the way our male is named Brody) She was alittle better with him last night...letting him eat and walk all over her. Well today she somehow got her mothering instinct! YEAH!!! She is now very into him and is finally licking him (for the first time). We couldnt be happer. Thanks again for everything! I am new to YT and Im very thankful you all were here for us when we needed advice! |
