Is there a color ratio when breeding Blk/Gld to Blue/Gld? - YorkieTalk.com Forums

I was just wondering if there is some way to find out what color the pups would be if the female is Blue & Gold and the stud is a Black & Gold, does it always vary? Should a Blue & Gold female be bred to a Blue & Gold stud, or does it even matter? What is the general rule of thumb for breeding for color? Is it just personal preference? Hopefully some of you experienced Yorkie breeders can help out with this, because I can't find anything on the internet.

I never used a black and gold Yorkie in my breeding program . I really don't see the necessity to use one with all the good blue and gold available .

So it seems like it is personal preference then. I am just finding it very difficult to find any blue & gold studs for my female.
What is everone's opinion on overnighting specimens for AI?

Do you feel there's a problem with black and gold? It seems to be that although there are some nice blue and gold out there, there are also a lot of blues that are too light.

Absolutely not, I'm just trying to find out as much as I can. I have only had yorkies for less than a year, so I am new to the breed. I actually thought that my furbaby was a black and gold when I bought her, then a few weeks later she ended up being a blue and gold. I love all of the yorkie colors, I'm just trying to find out if my blue & gold Lilly can produce black & gold. I want one in every color. hehe
I am only considering breeding because I have family members who want a puppy from our wonderful Lilly, and I would love for her to make me a grandma.
I hope that I don't offend anyone with my stupid questions.

Sorry, I wasn't offended. I was mainly curious as to Oliviers comment about the black and tan. I too am rather new to Yorkies ( I owned and showed Dachshunds and Afghans years ago), and enjoy learning and getting new information every day. Just finished reading a great article on trimming ears in the new YT magazine. This is a great site for help and info!
