Has anyone ever bought a Yorkie from this Breeder http://countryhomeyorkies.com I wanted to get a Yorkie from Denise sooooooooooo bad. Was gonna take that rider just get it. It was just something about her website that drew me in...until she told me her Yorkies START AT $1995. I was crushed. :( Told her if I couldn't find another breeder i'd most likely be back (maybe next year because her prices will break me). Somebody wanna give me some money?? :D |

I'm not as offended by her site as maybe yorkierini is! I think it's ok and some of the dogs are kinda cute. BUT, a lot of them seem to have floppy ears and to be honest if you are paying 2 grand for a yorkie, you do not want floppy ears. I wouldn't get my heart set on these pups because there are others out there that will be within your price range and have the characteristics that you will be looking for. Good luck in your search! |
One good thing is that it was breed specific, so there wasn't a million other breeds. Another good thing was that price wasn't mentioned, and it says that you have to make an appointment. That tells me that she cares about her pups and wants to make sure they go to a good home (though I could be wrong). Otherwise she would have just had a price and VISA/MASTERCARD logo on her site like everyone else. Her pups are precious. Of course you will get a better feel for her as a breeder, once you make an appointment and speak with her. Maybe you can discuss a payment plan with her. |
Although I don't like the term "holiday puppies", I'm not offended by the site at all. |
I actually liked her puppies & her site. What I really liked was she said you could come in and spend time in her home - (but her puppy descriptions on the ABOUT US did sound like she was describing a home decorating project a little) :) She did say she was a decorator by trade so I guess that's why. :) starting at 2 grand is something that you should put alot of thought into....but I can see why you'd want one. |

Other than that, Chewysmom, I agree! :) |
But why would floppy ears even matter, if you're not planning to show or breed?? I think floppy ears are super cute :p |

I think for that price I would want the ears up. |

I agree Jess, it's a personal preference. If I pay $2000 for a puppy that I'm not showing or breeding, I'm paying that because I fell in love with the puppy, not because of it's ears, or coat or things that comes with the standard of the breed. |
i really like her site, boy does she have some beautiful babies :) |
You guys..I'm torn. It looks nice and sound nice. But I can't help but be suspicous. I didn't see where the parents were. More emphasis on the fancy words about her and her house. Maybe it's just me, but I'd look into something like this before I say something good or bad about the site..I don't have intentions of calling her that's why I said that. I look for other things when I look at a site. Guys!! I'm anal!! (laughing while I'am saying this) |
I think floppy ears can be darling on a pup and if you love your puppy and it's pet only then there is no problem. It is my feeling though that for $2000 you should have as close to standard as possible and that means ears that are upright. |
She does have pretty pups and i'm not going to judge her because i for one don't know her! other than the "holiday puppies" thing, which i think alot of us agree on isn't in the best interest of babies due to them being given as gifts and not thought through thoroughly... what is she doing wrong? i see nothing! |
The pups were cute, the home was lovely, the lady was gorgeous, but.... On the front page it showed her with 2 Yorkies, and there were individual pics of 2 adult Yorkies. Don't know if they were male or female, but I would assume they were the mom and dad.... Did these 2 parent the 10 (I believe that is what I counted) puppies that they have available right now? Edited to add: Sorry, I believe it was referred to as an estate, not a home! :p |
O gracious, that is alot of money! There are wonderful breeders who really care about their babies out there for alot less. Heck, we have breeders on here and although I don't know their prices, I would rather buy one from any of our breeders. |

I stand corrected then. I can't judge anyone without real evidence. Sorry to hear this...I hope the baby you bought is ok. Like I said I don't know the lady , so I am not one to judge unless I know better. Thanks for letting us know!!!!!!! |

Ok, enough said. I'm just gonna come right out and say it: I don't care what kind of ESTATE you have, how many acres of gardens, or how big your wooded area may be. All I care about is how you raise your babies and where you stand on ethics concerning these babies. She doesn't have alot of info about the yorkshire terrier in general on the site, which is now leading me to side with Irene on this issue. So you're rich, well good for you! But how do you stand up as a dedicated breeder? That's my only question at this point. And I say all of this after looking at the entire site. Which isn't all that much. I read the front page in my previous post and didn't see a red flag. Ditto, Yorkierini. |
