I've been a mess all this time haha. I just was reading about green discharge and it seems there's so much disagreement on if it's good or bad? Have you guys experienced this with your dogs? She hasn't really done anything else since ..maybe she's sleeping to rest up for what's to come later tonight. |
Keeping lil momma in my prayers for a smooth delivery and chubby babies tonight. (((hugs))) |

Usually a green color BEFORE any babies are born means detaching placentas. Green AFTER birth of at least 1 baby is normal. Presenting a small bag (bubble) of fluid is also normal, and fine if it breaks. Timing is very important for survival of the puppies. Hard labor for more than 45 minutes to an hour, you should consult a Vet. After Labor has started, if I'm not done in 4 hours or so, I also consult my Vet. Usually the placenta will start detaching after 4 hours. |
I just read the previous page, your Vet had you watch for green, because it's bad, before any puppies are born. Have you had any puppies yet? Feel free to call me if you need to talk. Good Luck with a successful whelp! |

Good Luck! Let us know :) |
Glad for an update- but if green before puppies is bad and green during/after puppies is normal I'm a little worried that that green discharge may have been placental previa- how are things? Did everything go okay? |

I am so sorry. I am still praying for you all. Will be watching for an update. |
Mimi had an emergency C-section performed today. Her puppies came out without heartbeats and 3 of them had skin that was starting to fall off around their stomach and chin area. They tried their hardest to resuscitate them but none of them made it. We now have 4 little angel boys in the sky watching over us and their mommy. Mimi also got spayed and she is recovering now. She's doing excellent. I'm still grieving the loss of my puppies so I will be off the site for a few days while I process everything. I might come back on looking for a puppy to purchase later on as I will never breed again. Not only was it financially expensive (I don't care about money) but the worst is the stress I put on my poor dog and I'm completely and utterly heart broken now. |
I am so sorry for this terrible loss. I can't imagine how you & Mimi feel. I am glad to hear momma seems to be stable. You both are really going to need each other as you go through this heartbreaking loss. I totally get needing time to yourself. Just know we all care deeply & we are here to listen. |
I am sorry for your loss. I am really glad your girl made it and that you got her to the vet quickly, I am quite sure it saved her life. Breeding is full of heartbreak. I wish you and Mimi both healing. |
I am so very sorry. |
OMG I am so very, very sorry for the loss of the babies. Thank GOD your little girl is doing ok. (((hugs))) |
Thank you all for the kind words! I wanted to give a shout out to Deb from Amazing Yorkies for staying up with me that night and walking me through everything to make sure everything was fine with Mimi. We're getting better and better everyday. Mimi was feeling a little under the weather yesterday with vomiting and I rushed her to the vet incase of an infection but luckily it was just her stomach acting up due to the antibiotics the vet had her on. She's on so many medications right now, my poor baby. The important thing is she's doing excellent considering the 2 major surgeries she had. Now I just need to get tips from everyone on how to get her milk to dry up and what I can do to help get rid of the lumps she's starting to get from the milk? Should I try to milk her? I've been putting warm damp towels with epsom salt in the water on her 2x a day for 30 min and trying to take some of the milk out but its so hard to do so. Any tips? |
Glad to hear Mimi is doing well, I have no info. on drying her milk. I am sure someone will come along with some tips. |
I'm so glad deb was able to help you through. Hope things are looking up at your place. She is on an antibiotic right? I had mastitis before and it was awful- if she were intended to continue to produce milk I know milking/nursing is beneficial but I am not sure it would be since you want her to dry up? With goats the answer is no, don't milk. |
Thanks to both of you :) yes I'm very thankful for Deb. I will be buying one of her babies soon! I'm super excited for that. Mimi is on an antibiotic so I'm not worried about mastitis but actually last night I tried to get as much of the colostrum as I could out of the two top nipples and then massaged each one for about 5 min with a warm towel and today they look SOOO MUCH BETTER!!! I'm scared to keep doing that in case she accidentally produces more milk though lol |
Have you consulted with your vet how to dry up the milk? I am sure Deb as a breeder would be able to offer advise, suggestions on this. |

Thank You YOrkiex! If it was not for this thread - we probably would have lost alll our pups and the mom. The symptoms that you posted on here were excatly like ours. As soon as I saw a bunch of green mucus and her bag pop with only water I ran to the hospital. Our yorkie Mercedes had also 4 pups and could not deliver naturally. The bag that se walked around with for a couple of hours should have had a puppy but it could not come out. We lost that pup and got to save 3 pups. Thank you again! Your pups in heaven is sending messages all over the world. God Bless! |
