You have not given enough information...age is only one aspect I take into consideration when breeding a bitch...
Tell me about your bitch, size, pedigree, frame, stud, her health background, what are your goals...just one of a dozen things I can think of right now.....

She is 3.2kg, 21cm tall, 32cm long from neck to end, shes got quite strong bones/body, she is very healthy and thats her 2nd period. She is very energetic, loves to run,play.

The stud dog is mine too, hes the same size as the bitch, but he is the slim type, with thin bones, he is only 2.8kg and he is 20months old. He had 4pups from his 1st litter, all very healthy. Thats all so far:)

what about the sizes of the parents and grandparents? what is the health background like on the lines; any testing done? did they all free whelp or have any sections been needed... so is she over her 2nd Heat or is this the one you want to breed her on? has her pelvis been examined by a vet who knows what to specifically look for? with my girls my usual vet wasnt sure, and he told me this upfront and sent us to a different vet to have it checked... also, do you have a good enough relationship with your vet to have an open conversation with about this- do they know any breed specific info? and what are your intentions for breeding? this is an important one!
i know it sounds like we are interigating you, but having all this information written in one place will help you with your decision... and it is your girls life that could be at risk from breeding her too early or if she isnt suitable... even if she is there are still so many risks involved! you Must remember that as many don't seem to.

That is why I said "I" wouldn't breed anything under 18months. At that age to me nothing other to consider. When they reach 18 months there are many things I consider other than age.

IMO- any younger than 18months is still a baby... to me, its like a young teen having babies, i know some feel differently, but i think its too much emotionally for her to deal with... however, if she is going to breed her, she has to get researching asap...

You have been given good advise...are you in the UK...if not please disreguard the rest of my post...
I lived there and my father was a breeder...it would be best to make contact with good breeders in your area.

I know this is a controversal subject..but I would breed at 16 to 18 with an English type bitch...15 is a bit too young. Good luck.

What is out of the norm for a 15 month old to be having a second heat, just curious?

Nothing abnormal. You and I and others have discussed this before. Rule of thumb is not before eighteen months or 2nd heat, which ever comes first. However, there are other things that come into play when making the decision of to breed or not to breed.

I did not understand Bellemaries comment.."she hoped 2nd period was a mistype"...
Since it is her second cycle and she would be just about 18 mos when pups arrived..I might go ahead and breed her..but I do not like to encourage anyone to breed randomly...

The bitch is 15 months and is in her second heat cycle...am I reading the post correctly...
What I did not understand was the member posting they hoped the fact she was in her "2nd period a mistype"...
Help me people...what am I missing...what is the problem for bitch to be having her second heat at 15 mos..?

i was hoping that she meant to type heat or season and had read up enough to know that a period is a completely diferent thing... sorry, i didn't think it was a weird thing to say- i have had convos with poeple (one lady in particular) who genuinely thought the dogs heat and her human period was the same thing, and didnt understand why that is when a dog should be bred- just knew that was how it was done so wanted to breed her girl...

But isn't a dogs heat and womans period the same thing...except a dog comes in her season once to twice per year, where as a woman does this on a monthly basis..
It is the same thing...read about it...the bitch begins to bleed, she rarely becomes pregnant while she is bleeding red...the bleeding subsides and in a period of days ovulation occurs...if a male is present and a "breeding" takes place, there is a good chance both dog and woman can become pregnant..it is Mother Nature 101...heat, season, cycle or period, all the same process...except you rarely see a human running around wagging her butt in a males face..well, rarely!!
