Gooy discharge and now blood????? HELP Hi.. my stella is due is 10 days.... this morning she was off her food (not like her) took her for a little walk and gooey discharge came out, and now ive just noticed some drips of blood.... she isnt due yet... is very big... she had 7 on her last litter... im really worried about her especially seeing the blood.... she cant be in labour so early????? |
The mucus does not concern me, normal at this time..but red blood is a concern. It is less of a concern then green ...that is decaying blood from a detached placenta..I would have your vet check her as soon as possible for any problems..best wishes.. |

call around yes..im doing that now as i type this and waiting to speak to pets medic.. god i hope she is going to be ok.... wat do u think could have caused this? |
I would keep as calm as possible so as not to upset your Momma to be. Can you call your Vet at home? I'm sending prayers your way that all will be fine. |
Are you sure it is actual blood..sometimes the mucus discharge can take on a reddish brown tinge..it can stain the bedding a bit...but it is not blood...blot her vulva and if it is fresh, red blood, then something is amiss...best wishes |
Pet Medics Hi .. just to let u all know who kindly replied to me.... as i type this Stella is undergoing a cesarian to have her pups... one is breach and stuck..... hope to god she and the pups will be ok.... will let u know.x |

Prayers and good thoughts for your girl and her babies. |
Oh I will keep you and mom and the pups in my prayers. Please keep us posted. |
So your pups are 10 days premature? I hope her dates were off and all your puppies do ok. Sounds like it's a good thing you got her in when you did! Please keep us posted on how it goes! |
Have to hand rear Hi all..... just spoke to Ped Medics where Stella is with pups.... only 6 now ..im going to collect them in a few hours.... mum still hasnt produced any milk..... i have to hand rear them.... in all my 10 years of breeding ive never had to this so this will be an experience...ANY TIPS PLS???????? |
I'm so glad you got her to the Vet and she is OK. Are you sure about your dates? If they are 10 days early, sadly they won't make it. They cannot digest milk this premature. I use Fading Puppy Support by Dogzymes as a supplement until they can handle milk. I also use SubQ fluids with a small amount of Dextrose. I feed with a syringe since they also can't suck. Be careful not to give it too fast or too much as they will drown. You have a lot of work coming your way! Praying for Mama and the babies.. and hoping your dates were off and they're not that early! Good luck! |
premature pups hi..thanks for your quick reply..... yes they were 1 week early... vets are feeding them.... some are doing ok... some are not... mum still hasnt got any milk... dont know if she is going to get any either?..... im going to feed them goats milk...ive been looking on site for advice abut this as ive never done this before......Stella had milk when they gave her a 2nd injection to stimulate birth, (she had cesarian in the end) dont know why the milk stopt after she had them..... hope to god i can cope ok.... |
You'll do fine and she'll probably come back into milk. Good luck and get sleep when you can! |
Stellas Premature pups are home! Hi all... just keep u updated.... Stella is now home with her 6 pups! out of 8! Vets are saying mum has no milk, pups are suckling her though?.... just hand fed them all.... and after each one i fed... mum cleaned and made sure pups went to toilet.... at least something i dont have to do!! Well done mum... Worried that Stella is not eating??? I got a chicken for her and gave her some little pieces but she doesnt seem interested now,,,,,, also gave her some goats milk.... she isnt interested in that.... though gave her some fresh water and she drank at least.... got to feed pups every 2 hours!.... some im quickly having a sit down, something to eat and ill be off again.... i do hope mum starts to eat something...... perhaps she is still a bit grooggy fromoperation? she usually is a good eater,,,, eats everything so im a bit concerned....??????? |

hi ....thansks for your reply... i do hope she starts to eat... she is eaten a few pieces of chicken and drinking water.... the pups are suckling... well there olding on to her teats!!!!... ive just finished feeding them all..... a brak for 1hr 45 mins now!!!.... i dont mind as long as the pups strive and mum starts to produce milk herself..... she is doing ok though TG. x |
Do you have Nutri-cal to give to mom? If so then give her some of that several times a day. She need a quality puppy food so keep trying to get her to eat. Maybe if you ground up some dry food and added some canned Pedigree puppy food and make little meat balls out of that that she might eat. Scrambled egg is good too. You might have to hand feed her for awhile. It is good that the pups are suckling. That will help bring the milk in. Sometimes it just takes a couple of days. Also, you can buy some pedialyte and give her a little of that. Are you puppies hairless? Premature pups will not have hair and their skin will feel rubbery. I am praying momma and babies do well. |

1 Attachment(s) hi all... sat down for 5 mins.. just fed pups.. offered Stella some chicken she still isnt interested in eating anything.. beginning to really worry.. she doesnt want any goats mils (she usually loves that) is only drinking water when i offer it to her..... getting worried about her but am thinking its only 24 hours now since she went under the op,perhaps she is still a little groggy???? Pups seem to be doing well..... the are still suckling on her..... and when i feed them and really sucking on the syringe... 2 need a little more coaxing...but they seem to be doing ok TG and ive got into a little routine.... still worried about stella though???? any advice???? ive attached a picture of the little ones... there is 6 altogether but 2 are under mums head! |

Good luck and try to get some rest. Oh... are you giving fenegreek? It helps bring milk in. I bought some at the GNC store locally. Maybe that will help! |
