water broke 45 minutes ago - no puppy My Gina is in labor now - water broke 45 minutes ago and no puppy. I'm getting a little nervous. I read that if her water breaks and no puppy within the hour then she may need a c-section. How long has anyone waited before a puppy arrived after the water breaking? Her first litter her puppies came fast after the water breaking. X-rays show 3 possible 4 puppies...Her First litter she had 6 and no problems. |
Bumping this for you. Good luck |
Has she been pushing? |
I know that they come very quick after the water breaks. When my Lola had her litter she was pushing for 2 hours b/f the water broke and everyone said I should go to the vet. When the water broke I had a pup in 7 min. I think I would at least contact the vet or take her in if you cant call one. I know I might not be alot of help but I hope it helps a little. Please let us know what is going on. |

I didn't see a bubble when her water broke. It happened really fast but I heard it. I do see a bubble now and its clear. She doesn't seem to be having really hard contractions but is having them. She is panting and somewhat calm considering she is in labor. Doesn't seem to be in any distress. I'm going to call my vet anyway. |

If there are 10 strong contractions and no puppy, thats when you should get concerned and get her into the vets. Do you have help. |
I've never been on puppy watch, I really hope everything goes well!:D |

[quote=Barbara08;2736488]11:40 we have a pup...awaiting on the placenta...will get back to all of you on the sex of pup...[/quot A Big Congratulations At times the placenta will present itself with the next pup. But, to insure that any retained placenta does not remain within your girl, take her to the vet in the morning to have an Oxytocin (POP) shot. Always good as a precaution, it's a sure method that any dead tisssue is expelled and reduces the chance for infection that can be a big risk for your girl. In addition, it helps with milk production. |
Congratulations! I'm sorry that I had to go to bed last night and wasn't able to stay up. |
Congrats on the safe delivery! |
congratulations!!!!!!!!! Boy, i miss all the fun. You gals are all in a different time zone and I turn everything off at nine oclock andd tuck the yorkies in for the night. I can see I miss a lot by doing that. Again, congratulations on your nice litter.:) |
Here is an update since I last posted...Gina had another 2 puppies after my last posting. I was shocked on the 5th puppy but really stunned on the 6th puppy. X-rays at the vet showed 3 possible 4..I guess the others were hiding. She now has 5 boys and 1 girl and they all (including mom) are doing wonderful. All weigh between 4.3 ounces and 5 ounces. I will be posting pictures in the nursery section once I can figure out how to do that. They are so precious! Thanks!:) |
LOL that's a lot of boys! I am glad all are doing well! Congrats :) |
