| Is there a risk of puppy being Sexually Mature.... I am taking care of a puppy for a week. The puppy is 4 months old, it is one of ours from a previous litter, and the new owners are going away. I didn't want the pup to be dropped in a kennel so young so I offered to take care of the puppy for the week. I know they shouldn't breed till 2, and they don't USUALLY reach maturity till 6 months....but is there a CHANCE this puppy could tie with a female in heat? I wanted to keep him with the Mom and other females, not with my males, but I don't want to chance ANYTHING happening if a female were to go into heat. I did call the Vet and they said he SHOULD be fine, but I wanted to make sure I am not taking any chances with keeping him with my females. |

| Highly doubtful at only 4 months. He and the girlies should be fine. |

| Ut Oh....well hopefully more people will post opinions then! LOL! I already searched online in my books, and called my Vet. I haven't found a definite answer though.....just recommendations of WHEN to breed, etc. |

| I wouldn't think that he could do anything, but that sure wouldn't stop him from trying . I've had pups that young around my girls in heat and they sure can aggravate them. Also, the girls can get quite snappy at that time and could hurt a pup. Having seen this behavior, I keep my girls in heat away from all males unless I'm actually breeding them.
