Under-Bite Can some of you, that are experienced breeders, tell me, if an under-bite on a puppy at 7 weeks, can correct itself? Thank You, Sheila |
Depending on the severity of the under-bite, it can correct over time. Alot depends on the background of the puppy. If the parents bites are fine but a grandparent bite is off, it is possible for this trait to pass on to the puppies and it wont correct over time. I have also seen bites that are correct as young puppies go south also as they got older. |
Thank you for your explanation. I, too, have seen a puppies perfect bite, go off later. Sheila |
It depends on what is causing the bad bite. You can have the jaw x-rayed and if it's in line then it's a tooth problem which can be corrected sometimes by having the top or bottom row of baby teeth pulled so the others can come in correctly. If it's a jaw problem then I don't think there is anything that can be cone and it can (but not always) be passed on...if it's a tooth problem then it can shift on it's own or be corrected. |

My tiny Kia has an over-bite and I have really had to be careful to clean her teeth her entire life. Sheila |
