I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Yes, if you want a yorkie, look to the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America. Yorkshire Terrier Club of America About The Club

| show dog You may want to find a show in your area and talk to some of the breeders that are local to you. Unless you are experienced, no one is just going to sell a show dog, you will develop a working relationship with the breeder, and they will mentor you. Duncanmom |

| You need to gain the show breeders trust and have them believe that you will truly show and finish their dog. So many people go into trying to get a show yorkie only to find out how hard it is and stop. Then the breeder has nothing to show that their dog was great or to help gain an ROM for their sire or dam of the dog they sold. Yorkies are very hard to finish, because you have to know how to grow out a coat, train, and the competition is very tough. It takes a lot of determination and know how to finish a yorkie. There are other breeds that are a lot easier to show. Also yorkies go through such metamorphosis, that you have to learn to be patient and hope the one you have is finishable. You will have to go to many shows and let the breeders get to know you first. Oh, just a suggestion in case you are thinking of this - I have very rarely found a good show prospect from a non-show home. Your best chance of getting a show prospect is from a show home - someone who shows and have champions already. Good luck! T. |
