| At Pet Smart, Bella learned to do the basic commands, sit, come, stay, loose leash walking, take it, leave it, drop it, and down, with distractions. Heel and wait at the door, etc. With wintertime, like I mentioned before, we've sort of slacked off practicing the commands with Bella. We've spoiled her. However, watching your videos and others is an incentive to practice new things with her maybe later on. Thank you. |

Good Girl Bella! Ha Ha I am impressed with your Bella. Let me guess....?????.....after you wrote this note......you thought of other tasks and tricks Bella does too, ey? I would LOVE to see her video.... <hint, hint> What do you want to teach her for Tricks? Katy is doing well. Me? I have been a slacker. <laughs and winks> I have, however, been worked with her on "Shake Hands", as well as, "Arm" (when she is on my lap, 'Arm' = her sitting on my lap and then putting her two front feet on my arm, in like a 'Sit Up'). I am doing this as a Base for other tricks. Tricks like, 'Say Your Prayers'. I have/had been distracted.....and with what???!!! Nothing important! Shame on the Trainer! Sounds like, we NEED to encourage one another to get back at training! <smiles> | |

| AND. SHE. DID. IT! 3 SHORT LESSONS! This morning when I was working with Katy and our new Closed Tunnel, she came through it CLOSED all on her own. I had been holding it open, about 1/2 up, that is, folding about 1/2 of the Chute end in my hands and holding it so that you could see through it, but a bit colapsed. I set it down, flat, to line it all up so that I could gather it up into my hand....AND HERE SHE CAME! TERRIERS! Oh these Terriers! I had her repeat about 4 times, changing it up from completely closed to holding it open full length, to closed, to open and 1/2 the length. I stopped short of when she wanted to stop! The way I like to Train, leave them wanting more! I AM SO PROUD OF THIS DOG AND WHAT SHE CAN LEARN. I need to get my book out (book of what each of my dogs have learned and the tasks and tricks they do) and I need to start writing on Katy's page. It's been a while. |

| LOL, I feel your excitement because that's how I felt with Cody at 2 1/2 years old. He's such a fast learner and I was amazed. Katy being a wee lil baby the excitement is even greater. Congratulations mom and lil Miss Katy

| How is Trick Training going for YOU all? Here? I still seem to be lazy.....shame on me! Katy however is doing great when I do work her. She started learning "Wave" this morning.....and in ONE Lesson, she has it. I noticed she was ready to move on from, "Shake" when I told my husband sitting next to me at the table to, "Ask Katy to Shake Hands." And Katy put her 'hand' out towards him. Ha Ha Yeah. She gets THAT one, we are good to move on to 'High Five' and 'Wave'. Now. A little more Coffee for Trainer, gather a few more Treats for the Tiny Dog and I will set up the Weave Polls. After that. The little Agility Course and she's off! I did, I am so happy to report <laughs and winks> remember to record what Katy has learned. And boy. I had those happy tears as I read the tricks and tasks in the book of dogs that passed through my life. RIP my friends! I am so glad I had started doing this all those years ago! I also should add that my Tiny Baby, Katy, is doing GREAT standing still and moving correctly when asked, as I groom her. Yesterday we started using the little clippers and she was FINE with it. I did her whole ears.....I know. I'll do it right next time. But there were so......<mutters the words, 'unkept', and 'ugly', under her breath> |
