Do you have any idea when this behavior started? Is there a trigger Day? Why don't you try putting a harness and leash on her in the house when you know someone is coming over? That way you'll have some control over her to protect her as well as your visitor, or just put her away in another room when somebody comes to the door. You can try telling her NO! and squirt her with a small spray of water from a water bottle, give her a treat when she listens. I make Bailey sit before opening our door.
Last summer my daughter was supposed to be spending the night at a friends house & about 11:30 pm the phone rang, by the time I reached for it (I was sleeping) they hung up, about 5 min later Bailey started whining so I got out of bed picked her up, went to open our bedroom door when I saw two dark figures walking down our very long hallway with a flashlight. I screamed, slammed the door and was running for the phone, my husband jumped out of bed ready to protect us, when I heard my daughter's voice saying it was her and her friend. The dog was shaking and peed down my side..yes, lovely..I was scared to death, there was not supposed to be anyone else home but my hubby, me and Bailey. Anyway my daughter's excuse for her foolishness was she didn't want to wake us up but wanted a couple of movies to watch. ANYWAY Bailey was for months scared everytime I picked her up to carry her out of our bedroom in the dark...She barks and growls at every little thing trying to protect me.
It has been months but we are slowly getting her over this behavior, she only barks at night now when the kids try to sneak in late..
