Ticks are GROSS! they don't usually jump from one animal to another...once they have inbedded themselves they usually stay on that animal until they are full and then fall off...This means they are full of eggs! DON'T touch them with your fingers! they carry diseases that humans can get...My Parents little schnauzer gets them from time to time and Mom uses tweezers, puts it in a papertowel and Dad burns the little sucker in the stove...I HATE those things...
My vet told me that the ticks that carry lyme disease are the size of a speck of pepper and unless you have deer around you area I wouldn't think it is a deer tick but, would have the vet check just incase.
I was watching a program on animal planet last week and the ticks they showed were HUGE!! I mean like the size of a large grapefruit...Imagine seeing one of those things coming for ya! YUCK! It gave me the willies just seeing the thing!
