Bite In Ear? For an insect bite, you can use different things; dab on a little vinegar, an antibiotic ointment like Ozonol, an anti-itching ointment, or camomile lotion. Salt water is fine as well. You can also use a cold tea-bag; it is great for drawing heat and for soothing sore spots. There is very little possibility of you harming the dog by treating a bite.
Alternately, there could be a seed or bit of dirt irritating her ear; try swabbing it with a damp cotton ball. If you have ear/eye drops around-human type is fine-after wiping the ear, put in a drop or two, then rub on the outside below the outer ear-you should be able to hear it 'settling'.
After you have tried everything, if the dog is still shaking her ear, then contact a veterinarian. This is not an emergency, so don't worry about the weekend, but ring them on Monday. With a scope, the ear can be viewed quite easily, and if there is something inside, they will treat it then. |
